In the world of Monster Hunter Rise, there are two progression systems at play. The base game relied on Hunter Rank, whereas the Sunbreak expansion relies on the Master Rank system. Hunter Rank is still ongoing, but the new content is dished out dependent on the current Master Rank. So, just how does one "level up" with this new system?
What is the Master Rank cap in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak?
Currently, there technically isn't a cap on the Master Hunter Rank. It goes up to 999 much like Monster Hunter World. The main story goes through MR 6, with the next milestone quest unlocking at MR 10.

Making progress with the Master Rank is done in two ways. Up until the aforementioned MR 6, progress is locked behind completing requisite quests in Elgado. Usually, this involves going on two Key Quests, speaking with an NPC, doing two more Key Quests, and finally taking on an Urgent Quest. This formula repeats all the way from MR 1 through MR 6.
After completing the quest "Proof of Courage," the remaining entirety of MR will be available. This will level up naturally as players take on more Master Rank quests. From there, the only restrictions are the ones hunters place upon themselves.
