How to stop Mount and Blade 2 Bannerlord from crashing

Here are a couple of things you can do to stop Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord from crashing:

  1. Update the graphics drivers—It's the most essential piece of advice, but it's surprising how many times it manages to fix the problem. Refreshing your GPU with brand-new drivers usually does the trick.
  2. Install Windows 10—If you're a Windows 11 user, you might consider switching back to Windows 10. Although the newest version of Windows is getting better and better in terms of game compatibility, it's more hardware-demanding and still far from perfect.
  3. Point the camera upward—When fast-forwarding through a battle after defeat, point the camera upward and move closer to the sky since the game runs better when not much happens in front of the player's screen. When the game tries to render everything happening in front of the player, it has more issues, which can result in sudden crashing.
  4. Wait a while between issuing quick commands—Most of the time, players have just started the battle when they issue quick commands, which can cause crashes. Give a moment after issuing a command to begin another since this allows the AI to run its programming before going to the next command.
  5. In the settings, reduce the size of army in battle or the graphics—The game is not graphically demanding, but there are a lot of things happening at once, and every NPC on the map takes a toll on the CPU. Although the graphics aren't as fancy on low settings, the game still looks decent enough.
  6. Verify game file integrity—Sometimes files go missing or don't load as intended, which takes the whole thing down like a house of cards. To check if every file is in order, open Steam and go to your game library. Right-click on Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord, and select Properties. Click on the Local files tab and select Verify integrity of game files. Once it's done, start the game and enjoy a crash-free experience.
