Revive System Coming to Fortnite? Respawn Vans Appear to be on the Way!

A revive system might be coming soon for Fortnite!

Epic is very much aware of the popularity of Apex Legends. First, they've added a very similar Ping System to the game in Season 8 which is one of Apex's signature features. It now appears that a resurrection system for those fallen duo and squad mates is on the way. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but speculation of this feature entering the game was already increased by a response in the recent Reddit AMA:

We’ve been considering this mechanic for a while and have been exploring it. Want to make sure we give it the time it needs and fully understand its impact on the game as a whole. Look for further updates during Season 8. - Source

While it seems obvious that this was going to be added in the future, it might be sooner than you expected. Vans have started popping up in replay mode and they look exactly like what you would expect a respawn system to look like.

If you've played Apex Legends, then you'll understand this feature. If not, when one of your teammates is fully eliminated, you can pick up their banner. You take this banner over to a respawn beacon and they will be brought back into the game. When they return they do not have any of their loot, but they will get to play again. This makes playing with friends a lot more pleasurable. It also means you won't have people just backing out of games if three of four team members have been eliminated. This feature would be especially important right now because thiristing (finishing downed enemies) is at an all time high due to receiving 50 health/shield after every confirmed elimination.

Leaker Lucas7yoshi found what is called a "Second Chance Card" in the game files which will act as the item you will need to bring to the van.

On the back of the van is a big red button. We assume this will be the spot you need to bring these Second Chance Cards.

A pretty nice part about the revive system in Apex Legends is that it doesn't matter who picks up the card. Any person from your group can resurrect a teammate if at least someone has picked up the banner. Will that be the same in Fortnite? It remains to be seen. The other wonder is how much time will you get before needing to pick up the card? In Apex, after a certain amount of time, your teammate will be fully eliminated if you don't pick up the card. Fortnite will absolutely have to have something like that in the game, but we'll have to see how long it ends up being.
