Epic Games has been releasing free games every couple of weeks to promote their game launcher. They kicked it off with a huge freebie in Subnautica, and have followed it up with some surprisingly good games with each time. Slime Rancher is no different, the game released in 2017 and appears to be a fun exploration game that has you wrangling slime on a new world.
Slime Rancher has a ton of positive reviews, with an Overwhelming Positive score on Steam and a Very Positive with recent reviews. The games atmosphere kind of reminds me of the Luncheon Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey. The colors and way things look has a similar vibe to it.
Slime Rancher is a charming, first-person, sandbox experience. Play as Beatrix LeBeau: a plucky, young rancher who sets out for a life a thousand light years away from Earth on the ‘Far, Far Range.
Each day will present new challenges and risky opportunities as you attempt to amass a great fortune in the business of slime ranching. Collect colorful slimes, grow crops, harvest resources, and explore the untamed wilds through the mastery of your all-purpose vacpack.
While this game isn't as acclaimed as Subnautica, the previously released games by Epic have been very fun. I was pleasantly surprised by the releases of What Remains of Edith Finch and Thimbleweed Park. Games I might never have tried otherwise, but because they were free I got to give a shot! If you've missed out on some of the previous free games, I have a list of them all right here.
