While most other characters excel at combat in Octopath Traveler 2, it seems that Partitio is more suited to making money (or Leaves as they are called in game). This is an understatement, though, seeing as though Partitio has plenty of utility in battle. He may not deal the most damage, but he can break shields and do plenty of other jobs to help the team.
How should players build Partitio in Octopath Traveler 2?
The value that Partitio brings in Octopath Traveler 2 is less about the secondary job players give him and more about using the Merchant skills like Donate BP and Hired Help. That being said, Partitio's utility grows tremendously by adding either the Apothecary or Arcanist secondary job.
Aside from the healing, Apothecary actually gives Partitio decent coverage. With the Merchant skills combined, Apothecary Partitio gets Axes, Polearms, Bows, Fire, and Ice. This definitely comes in handy given his Latent Power, which gives him max BP in one turn. Partitio can use that BP to break shields and set up for other teammates.
Apothecary Partitio also has value because a secondary healer can come in handy often. There will be some turns where the main healer in the party will need to do something else, for example having Temenos use his Divine Skill to drop a huge attack. During these instances, it's nice to have Partitio fill in the healing role.
Arcanist is the other good option for Partitio due to one specific strategy. Arcanist gets Seal of Diffusion, which makes spells that only effect the user spread to the entire party. After using Seal of Diffusion, Partitio can use Rest on the entire team, giving them HP and SP at the same time.
