Octopath Traveler 2 – The Late Riser Side Story Walkthrough

Sometimes, a punch is all you need.

The Late Riser is an Octopath Traveler 2 side story that can be taken when you first step onto Tropu’hopu. It’s from the local Master Fisherman who’s looking to wake up his apprentice bright and early to catch the best fish. Sadly, said apprentice is too anxious to sleep. Here’s how to get him up.

The easiest way to complete this quest is by Challenging the Sleepy Fisherman with Hikari and knock him out in a duel. He’s super weak, so you’ll get him to “sleep” in no time flat. You can also Soothe him with Castti, but we don’t really recommend wasting an item when a good punch is all it takes.

The fisherman apprentice will realize the errors of his ways and moves to change his sleep schedule completely. As thanks, his master will reward you with a lot of neat items and money.

There are a ton of more complex quests in Octopath Traveler 2, but there are a couple of simple ones, too. In Tropu’hopu, for example, there’s Stage Actors. This is the type of quest that seemingly implies that you’re going to be searching when brute force is all you need.

In fact, if you’re stuck with any side story, don’t forget that you have plenty of Path Actions to experiment with. Start with the more straightforward ones (like Challenge and Provoke) before you move on to things like Guide. Sometimes, you might even need more than one Path Action to complete a side quest.
