If you're also facing Origin error code 20:403 as well, worry not, as we’ll explain some methods to fix this issue.

All fixes for Origin error code 20:403

Origin error code 20:403 usually appears due to an unstable internet connection, Antivirus software blocking the application, insufficient installation privileges, or corrupt setup files. Thankfully, I've found some effective ways to help you fix this issue. So without any further delay, let's delve into the details.

Switch to the EA launcher

Origin is being replaced by the EA launcher, which is a new and improved way to access your EA games and content. Some users have found that installing the EA launcher solved the error 20403 for them. However, be aware that this may cause some compatibility issues with some older games and expansion packs that were linked to your Origin account. You can download the EA launcher from this link.

Use the offline downloader

Sometimes, the regular Origin installer may fail to download or install the files properly, resulting in the error 20:403. In that case, you can try using the offline downloader, which is a standalone version of the installer that does not require an internet connection. You can download it from this link. After downloading it, run it as an administrator and follow the instructions.

Check your internet connection

A stable and fast internet connection is essential for downloading and installing games on Origin. If your connection is slow, unstable, or interrupted, you may encounter the error 20:403. To fix this, make sure that your router is working properly, your firewall or antivirus is not blocking Origin, and your network settings are correct. You can also try using a wired connection instead of a wireless one to ensure stable connectivity with Origin servers.

Clear Origin caches

Origin stores some temporary files and data in its cache folders to improve its performance and functionality. However, these files may get corrupted or outdated over time, causing errors and glitches with Origin and its games. To fix this, you need to clear the Origin caches by deleting all the files and folders inside the Origin folder in the AppData directory on your computer. To do this, close Origin and go to C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Origin (or C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Origin) and delete everything inside it.

Run Origin as Administrator

Sometimes, Origin may not have enough permissions to access or modify certain files or folders on your computer, resulting in the error 20403. To fix this, you need to run Origin as an administrator, which gives it full access to your system resources. To do this, right-click on the Origin icon on your desktop or in your Start menu and select “Run as Administrator”. Then, try installing or updating your games again.

Uninstall and reinstall Origin

If none of the above solutions work for you, you may need to uninstall and reinstall Origin completely from your computer. This will remove any corrupted or missing files or settings that may be causing the error 20403. However, before doing this, make sure to back up your game saves and settings by copying them from C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games (or C:\Program Files\Origin Games) to another location on your computer or an external drive.
