Best counters to D.Va in Overwatch 2

Never get caught in D.Va's Ultimate range again.

It's hard to deny D.Va's popularity in Overwatch 2. Many Tank players like running D.Va for the utility from Defense Matrix and the strength of her ultimate move, Self-Destruct. While she can be a pain to deal with, though, she certainly isn't unkillable. There are a couple of heroes that are well equipped for beating D.Va in every role.

D.Va's abilities in Overwatch 2

To counter D.Va, first one must understand how D.Va works in Overwatch 2. Her biggest tool is Defense Matrix, which casts an area in which projectiles get canceled. This is the most important thing players need to be aware of when fighting D.Va, since things like Sojourn's Disruptor Shot will just disappear while Defense Matrix is active.

D.Va also gets Micro Missles, which can deal a hefty amount of damage when combined with her primary fire. DPS and Support heroes need to be careful of this, because D.Va also gets Boosters, which can propel her into the high ground to dive on squishy characters. This is usually a losing fight for the squishy, so it's better to just disengage instead of fighting D.Va in close quarters.

Finally, her Self-Destruct can be totally nullified with good positioning. The ultimate hits anyone in line of sight of D.Va when she self-destructs. Therefore, all players need to do is hide behind cover. If D.Va possibly has her ultimate ready, never get caught left open without a wall to hide behind.

Which Heroes can counter D.Va?

Mei

Mei's primary fire doesn't get affected by D.Va's Defense Matrix. Therefore, she always has an option of getting damage onto D.Va. Her Ice Wall also provides a nice piece of cover if D.Va uses Self-Destruct. A well-placed Ice Wall can even stop D.Va from potentially diving on a teammate.

Zarya

Zarya's beam is another weapon that can simply ignore Defense Matrix. The bubbles that Zarya creates also help a lot in the D.Va matchup. The Zarya player will want to save Bubble for D.Va's missiles and then tank the rest of her damage, which isn't too threatening.

Mercy

This hero doesn't so much counter D.Va as much as denies D.Va's value. Since she spends most of her time in the air, it's really difficult for D.Va to try to hit Mercy. The D.Va will then likely target her teammates, so if she can pocket the right heroes and keep her teammates alive, she can nullify a lot of D.Va's presence in a fight.
