You haven’t seen Path of Exile 2 endgame because the developer doesn’t know what it looks like yet

"We'll see when we get there''

If like many fans you're wondering why the Path of Exile 2 endgame still hasn't been revealed (despite lots of press events and coverage recently), it's because the developers themselves don't know what it looks like yet. In a recent interview with YouTuber BalorMage, the game director of Grinding Gear Games Jonathan Rogers explained the status of endgame in PoE 2 when asked about the players' concerns about the lack of footage.

''We've talked multiple times about showing endgame stuff'', said Rogers in the interview. ''But the thing we always came back to is the thing we're going to show is always going to be a guess.''

He expands that the endgame must feel like players are always getting power according to him (i.e. there should be constant, steady progression). ''I don't want to show something where we're not 100% certain that is what you're really going to get." ARPGs like Path of Exile 2 need to have a proper endgame to keep players invested in grinding for better stuff so, it's natural he's treating the matter delicately.

Rogers further explains that players need to have enough of the campaign, preferably five acts, done to get the feeling of entering the endgame. PoE 2 is set to have six acts in total, so getting five of them done should be enough to help players prepare for the endgame content. Rogers says that the endgame reveal isn't too far away (many acts have been shown already), so we can expect proper details (including footage) in the coming months leading up to the late 2024 beta.

What we do know is that there will be over 100 endgame maps, each with its own unique boss encounters. So, PoE 2's endgame is definitely shaping up to be amazing.
