Should you enable Telemetry in Payday 3?

Data, data, data...

When you first load up Payday 3, you're asked whether or not you should opt into Telemetry. If you're unfamiliar with the terminology, it allows developers to get data from the weapons, builds, and tools you use to complete missions in the game. This sounds cool, but what's the catch? Should you really enable Telemetry? Here's what you need to know.

Should you opt into Telemetry in Payday 3?

In reality, the answer to this question totally depends on your desire for privacy. If you decide to opt into Telemetry, you'll be effectively telling the devs about everything you did to complete a mission, right down to your personal loadout. With Telemetry, it doesn't matter if you're playing the game alone, through matchmaking, or even with a private party. The developers will see it all, and in exchange... you get nothing.

Telemetry is purely for data gathering which will help the devs balance the game. On the flip side, if you opt out, well, I'd be lying if I said nothing goes to the devs. They just won't be able to see absolutely everything.

So really, it's up to you whether or not Telemetry should stay on or not. If you're a fan of privacy, turn off Telemetry. If you want to help the developers, turn on Telemetry. Personally, I left it on because it doesn't affect the gameplay in any way and may help the developers improve the player experience in Payday 3.
