Persona 4 Arena Ultimax was released for the PC on March 17, becoming the first time any fighting game in the Persona franchise has made it to the platform. Fans were excited by the prospect of netplay, but were initially worried by the lack of one of the more important things in modern online fighting games: Rollback code. So does Persona 4 Arena Ultimax have rollback code?
As mentioned, initially when announced Persona 4 Arena Ultimax’s PC release did not have rollback code. But in February 2022, the developers announced that while the game would not have rollback code on release, they were aiming to implement it in Summer 2022. As a result, the game doesn’t currently have rollback code. It will be added in a later patch.
For those who don’t know what rollback code is, it's a system that’s used to effectively predict the movements of an online opponent so that the local player doesn’t experience lag or other online issues. It can’t solve all connection issues but to makes righting games far more playable.
At the moment Persona 4 Arena Ultimax has a perfectly serviceable online mode that allows you to compete with players within your region. But without rollback code, the game will be subject to annoying lag spikes and seemingly questionable hit detection online until it’s added.
