The EMF strategy is still alive!

The Apocalpyse update for Phasmophobia includes changes to four different types of Ghosts, as well as general changes to every Ghost in the game. The Poltergeist, Oni, Demon, and Jinn have the most spectacular changes and can affect the way that players investigate them. With every change, players have to adapt and learn how the catch these new behaviors. These are all the Ghost changes in the Apocalypse update of Phasmophobia.

General Ghost changes in the Phasmophobia Apocalypse update

Every Ghost has had minor changes, but this can mean that some Ghosts no longer have the same reliable strategy. These are all the general changes:

  • Hunting and Event Sound Effects - The noise from both of these occurrences are only audible from 0 to 19 meters and will be completely inaudible at 20 meters.
    • The Myling, as a result, can only be heard when around 12 meters from the player.
  • Singing from the Music Box - This sound will also not be audible when over 20 meters away.
  • Thrown Objects - Objects are thrown, at average, much further and will no longer have small throws.
    • During Hunts, objects will have a chance to be thrown 50% of the time, every 0.5 seconds. This changes to 100% if the Ghost is a Poltergeist.

All Ghost Changes in the Phasmophobia Apocalpyse Update

Four Ghosts have been changed in the update, making some Ghosts even stronger.

Poltergeist

The Poltergeist now has the Oni's ability to throw objects with great force. Seeing an object thrown across the room is almost a surefire way to determine that the Ghost is a Poltergeist.

Oni

The Oni will drain the Sanity of players at double the speed during Ghost Events. Staring at the apparition of a Ghost is much more dangerous, making it so the Oni can Hunt faster against players trying to get a Ghost Photo. The Oni also now flickers less when Hunting, making it easier to see and capture a photo of.

Demon

The Demon can use its ability to Hunt at any Sanity more often. This means that it can Hunt as soon as the player walks in through the door if they are unlucky.

Jinn

The Jinn's ability to drain the Sanity of players when the Fuse Box is turned on can only happen when the player is either in the same room as the Ghost, or within three meters of the Ghost. Previously, the Sanity drain would cause the Fuse Box to have an EMF Reading, but now can only be done in multiplayer. The EMF Reading will now occur at the Fuse Box regardless of which player the Sanity is drained from, making cooperation that much more important.
