Phasmophobia developer is dropping plushies as fans beg for new content, console release

Fans of the popular horror game Phasmophobia have long awaited its release on consoles. Despite the few unexpected setbacks, including a fire at the developers’ studio, players are growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of information and updates on the console release. Rightly so, as they have been anticipating it for well over a year.

Kinetic Games recently announced the release of a Phasmophobia-themed Voodoo Doll in partnership with Makeship, which has sparked a mixed reaction among the fans. On the one hand, we have fans who are appreciative and understand that the creation of merchandise takes little effort and resources, but others simply want new stuff or the promised port.

One Reddit user with the top comment pointed out that, “Most likely 1 or 2 people from the team sat down for a few hours to discuss the collab with the plushie makers.” While replying, a developer confirmed that it took even less than that (around an hour to send the screenshots and approve the design).

Meanwhile, one fan expressed frustrations, commenting in response to the announcement, "Also add the console release to that." Another echoed the sentiment with, "GTA 6 is going to come out first at this rate."

While it’s true porting takes time, and a studio fire surely slowed progress, it's getting a bit much even for diehard fans, and then there are the false hopes. Another fan summarised the situation, saying, "I am perfectly fine with the time they take for the updates. BUT stop hinting/teasing the update as something that is arriving soon while it takes ages."

In another Reddit post, fans were asking the developers about the console release and updates. One responded, "We're working on it; we can't give any dates, but we have a lot of time invested in console, and it will come out. Just bear with us. News on Point Hope etc very soon. Thanks." Fans have heard this this before though, so the mood is weary.

It's been over a year since the console release was hinted at, and it's seemingly not coming any time soon. Not only that, but the new map, map re-designs, horror 2.0, leveling rework, and other updates that players been waiting for are still a work in progress with no mentions or updates. At the least, Kinetic Games could communicate the progress of its work or be more specific rather than repeating 'very soon.'
