Best Atlas Strategy for POE Necropolis 3.24 League Start

Scarabs or no scarabs, that is the question.

In Path of Exile's Necropolis 3.24 league, optimizing your Atlas strategy from the start is crucial for endgame success. This guide delves into several key strategies to effectively navigate your Atlas progression.

Optimizing your Atlas tree early on is very important since it will affect your maps and the entire gameplay. With the expansion, we also get several Atlas trees, meaning that you can swap and build another strategy. Depending on at which point in the game you'll unlock the second and third trees, your strategies and plans might vary.

Whichever strategy you go with, you'll also have to take your League Starter into consideration, since not all of the builds will work well with all Atlas Tree strategies. Here are several Atlas Trees that the community is talking about.

Atlas Passive Rush Tree in POE 3.24

  • Atlas Skill Tree map and skill rush in Path of Exile
  • Atlas Skill Tree for map and skill rush with Scarabs in Path of Exile

Many people will choose the progression strategy, aiming to get as many maps as possible from the Atlas Tree along with the Atlas Passive Skill Points. I enjoy the two options that BalorMage presents, depending on whether you want to have Scarabs in your maps or not.

In both cases, you'll head up to Kirac and then to the Maps wheel right above it. Now, this is where strategies differ. If you want to ignore Scarabs and instead go with twenty Atlas Passive Skill Points, head up towards Unwavering Vision.

The other strategy is still focused on progression and getting maps but without Unwavering Vision, meaning you'll also be able to pick up Scarabs if you choose to. You'll still be hitting all of the important Map spots, but you'll also have the freedom to choose. It's important to keep in mind that you want to add to your Maps, improving your progression in speed by getting more Shrines, Strongboxes, etc.

Expedition Betrayal Delve Atlas Tree in POE 3.24

  • Expedition Jun Niko Atlas Skill strategy for early game in Path of Exile
  • Expedition Jun Niko Atlas Tree strategy for late game in Path of Exile

Some of the main nodes you'll be hitting with this strategy are Expedition nodes. With these, you'll be able to craft with Rog, an NPC that will sell you items as well as modify them for a price, or acquire heaps of currency from Tujen, another NPC.

Here, you will be going for Unwavering Vision quickly since you do get 20 essentially free Atlas Passive Skill Points to use up early on. This early strategy by Zizaran will also focus on Delve and Betrayal. Though, Betrayal isn't everyone's cup of tea, so you could decide to not go for that and instead increase the chances of your maps containing Niko.

For late game strategy, you should respec from Unwavering Vision, since you now have a lot of points and could instead actually look for Scarabs. You'll add some Harvest nodes here as well to sell and earn currency.

Essence Blight Heist in POE 3.24

In the Essence Blight Heist strategy by Zizaran, the major currency source is going to be the Blight nodes. The oil you get from Blight encounters will allow you and other players to anoint your gear, enchanting them with some pretty great buffs. You'll want to hit the Dutiful Soldier atlas passive in order to have Huck as your ally, who will be summoned once you interact with the first Smuggler's Stash on every map. He'll then keep helping you clear enemies as you go. (Just be sure to roll Haste on his equipment for maximum effect.)

This strategy works well with Detonate Dead, one of the best League Starters in Necropolis expansion. With this build, you'll be able to do Blight-ravaged maps and clear them due to the corpse scaling. When it comes to Essence, you need to keep in mind that they are very dangerous (especially in Tier 16 Red Maps), so you have to be well prepared for them.
