Best moveset for Hisuian Zoroark in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Of course the first ever Normal/Ghost-type would be strong.

It's been a long time coming for this Hisuian form to be introduced into Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Now that Hisuian Zoroark has arrived, trainers can finally start testing sets they were theory crafting when the Pokémon debuted in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Hisuian Zoroark is plenty fast, plenty strong, and can still make use of the Illusion ability. Here's a great build to give it.

Which moves should trainers teach Hisuian Zoroark in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

Thanks to having both high Special Attack and Speed stats, Hisuian Zoroark is considered one of the best Choice Specs users in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Its two stabs, Normal and Ghost, are very spam-able, with only a few Pokémon being able to resist it.

That said, below would be the ideal moveset for a Choice Specs Hisuian Zoroark:

  • Hyper Voice
  • Shadow Ball
  • Psychic
  • U-Turn

The main damage sources for Hisuian Zoroark would be Hyper Voice and Shadow Ball. Hyper Voice is a bit more powerful, but Shadow Ball hits more types for neutral damage. Psychic is there to counter Clodsire, one of the biggest problems for this Pokémon. U-Turn is on the set as both a way to keep the momentum up and a way to punish Specially Defensive Pokémon for switching in.

Kingambit is a hard check to Hisuian Zoroark. Even if Hisuian Zoroark is running Focus Blast, Kingambit can Sucker Punch before Hisuian Zoroark attacks. Blissey can also hard shut down Hisuian Zoroark, though it isn't seen on as many teams as it was in Generation VIII. Other than that, there are some soft checks like Ting Lu, but with chip damage, Hisuian Zoroark can easily break through them.
