Best nature for Raging Bolt in The Indigo Disk Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Raikou bounces back in a big way.

Some of the coolest surprises from The Indigo Disk Pokémon Scarlet & Violet have been the new versions of old legendaries, like Raikou. This Pokémon's Special Attack stat is almost as large as its neck, so you'll definitely want to know the best nature for it.

What are the best natures for Raging Bolt in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

The main job that Raging Bolt will have in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet will be spamming Special Attacks with its 137 base Special Attack stat. This gives it a few options in terms of nature, which are as follows:

  • Modest (+ Sp Atk, -Atk)
  • Timid (+Speed, -Atk)

The best nature for Raging Bolt in most cases will be Modest. This boosts its Special Attack which is already high. Raging Bolt is in a very odd speed tier, with 75 base Speed. This means it won't be moving first against even slower threats like Mamoswine or Gyarados.

In this case, it's better to just maximize damage output to really beat down on defensive walls like Toxapex and Clodsire. An added advantage that Raging Bolt has is its ability to live strong hits due to a 125 HP stat. This makes Modest Raging Bolt better, since it can survive a hit and fire back.

This form of Raging Bolt gets better with an item like Assault Vest, which could allow it to live Draco Meteors from the likes of Noivern and Dragapult to score a revenge kill. That being said, Timid is also an option to make sure Raging Bolt out-speeds the likes of offensive Heatran and defensive Landorus.

How to choose the best nature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Picking the best nature comes down to deciding which role the Pokémon will fill. A big question to ask is whether the Pokémon will benefit from speed. Faster Pokémon like Chien Pao almost always go with a speed boosting nature to ensure that first hit; other Pokémon like Gholdengo sometimes opt for a different nature since there are so many Pokémon it would get out-sped by regardless.
