What is the best Nature for Rayquaza in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

The best Nature choices for Rayquaza in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are the following:

  • Adamant (+Attack, -Sp. Atk)
  • Jolly (+Speed, -Sp. Atk)
  • Modest (+Sp. Atk, -Attack)

Rayquaza has decent HP and massive Attack/Sp. Atk stat, making it the perfect attacking Pokémon in Scarlet & Violet. I chose these three Natures to further complement Rayquaza's moveset and stats.

Adamant increases your Attack, allowing you to even one-shot enemies with physical moves. Modest, on the other hand, focuses on the usage of Dragon-type moves, while Jolly complements Rayquaza's already high attacking stats to ensure you have a greater chance of inflicting massive damage on the first turn.

For EVs, it's best to focus on HP and Attack. Alternatively, if you want to elevate Rayquaza's Dragon-type moves, go for Sp. Attack. Having a maxed EV on attack maximizes Rayquaza's damage output with moves like Crunch or Dragon Ascent, and having bonus HP ensures you survive hard-hitting Pokémon.

How to choose the best Nature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

The Nature system works similarly to other RPGs' min-max system, meaning your choice should always complement your Pokémon's moveset and role to maximize its potential. If your Pokémon deals a lot of physical damage while having decent defense stats, it's better to double down on an Attack-based Nature like Lonely, Adamant, or Naughty.

For Rayquaza, since it has one of the best stats in a Legendary Pokémon, doubling down on its Attack makes it a true powerhouse in a competitive setting or even during Tera Raids as a damage dealer. Instead of getting a Nature for other stats that do not stand out, focus on a Pokémon's role and moveset in your party.
