Best Nature for Sandshrew and Sandslash in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Most of the time I replay the older Pokémon games, I end up with a Sandslash on my team, as I preferred its evolution line to Geodude's. It was one of the first Pokémon I used in Pokémon Blue, so Sandshrew and Sandslash returning in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet through the Teal Mask DLC was a blast from the past. But before I added one to my team, I wanted to ensure it had a good nature.

What is the Best Nature for Sandshrew and Sandslash in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

I recommend going with one of the natures below for Sandshrew and Sandslash's best nature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

  • Adamant (+Attack, - Sp. Attack)
  • Jolly (+ Speed, - Sp. Attack)
  • Impish (+ Defense, - Sp. Attack)

Sandshrew and Sandslash stats are physically orientated in Attack and Defense, with decent HP and Speed. So, I recommend focusing on Attack, Defense, or Speed. Choosing the Adamant nature allows Sandshrew and Sandslash to deal more damage, while the Impish nature will reduce the physical damage they take.

But my preferred nature is the Jolly nature. Sandshrew and Sandslash have decent Speed, so I like to give them a boost. They are around the point where many other Pokémon have similar Speeds, so the Jolly nature may give them the edge they need to outpace other Pokémon and act first.

How to choose the best nature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

You should look at a Pokémon's stats when determining the best nature for them. The best thing to do is to consider their best stats and if they have any weak stats worth boosting. Sandshrew and Sandslash have decent stats, with their Attack and Defense being the best but lacking in Special Attack and Special Defense.
