Can Pokémon walk behind you in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

Will they follow you?

The Pokémon series is one of the most popular and features over 900 Pokémon to catch and befriend. Many features have been added or removed from the various games throughout the years, but one of the most popular was having your Pokémon follow you. This may leave you wondering if Pokémon can walk behind and follow you in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

There is no official confirmation of whether or not Pokémon can follow you in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, but this can be seen in the second trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. At the fifty-second mark, you can see the player walking beside their Pokémon and approaching other players who also have their Pokémon out.

Whether or not this is actual gameplay or just a cutscene remains to be seen, but it seems like Pokémon will once again be able to follow you as you explore the overworld. This is only speculation, but it does seem likely.

Can Pokémon walk outside their Pokéball?

Regardless of whether Pokémon can walk behind and follow you in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, it appears that they can be outside of their Pokéball other than when in battle. This is seen throughout the second trailer and was a feature in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. But there has not been official confirmation, so this is speculation.
