You are at the whims of the dynamic weather system in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

The weather has been a big part of the Pokémon series, especially in Pokémon Sword and Shield, but do Pokémon Scarlet and Violet use it to the same degree? Can you control the weather or change your Nintendo Switch system to a specific day to get a particular type of weather? Well, here's everything we know about changing the weather in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

Can you make it rain in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

No, you cannot change the weather or make it rain in the open world of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet; you are purely in the hands of the dynamic weather system. You cannot change any Switch setting, such as the time or date, to force particular weather to occur. You can only wait in-game for about five minutes, give or take, for the weather to change. It may not be the weather you want, but in that case, you have to wait longer. Currently, this is the only method to change the weather in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

Even if you use a weather-changing move in a Pokémon battle, the effects only last for the battle. The effects do not continue into the open world exploration.

What does the weather affect in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

The weather only affects a few things in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. First, you cannot picnic during terrible weather like a rainstorm. This weather prevents you from having a picnic outdoors. You will have to find a cave or wait it out.

Second, the weather makes certain Pokémon appear. So if any specific Pokémon, always check the map and your radar for new Pokémon to appear, which normally don't in the area you are in.
