For the first time in the Pokémon series, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will feature a true open world. In addition to this, multiplayer is no longer limited to trading and battling, but you can actually explore this world together. This may leave you wondering how four-player co-op works in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Four-player co-op in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet explained
In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you can play with up to three of your friends. You can battle, trade, and now explore the world in co-op. This means you can explore the various locations within the new region, discover Pokémon, and more together.

Can all players go separate ways?
Not many details are known about how co-op will work in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet yet, but the second trailer shows all four trainers together with their Pokémon, but also shows them splitting up. This seems to imply that players will be able to go their separate ways and not have to stay in proximity to one another.
If this is true, it leaves the question of how far apart players will be able to get from one another without disconnecting. The Pokémon Company will likely reveal more information about this feature as the launch day approaches.
