How to beat Poison Team Star Atticus in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Bulldoze spam and win!

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Poison Crew can be found in the Thagtree Thicket and should be the third location players tackle for the Starfall Street storyline. All of the trainers use Poison Types, making Ground and Psychic Type Pokémon the best counters. It is recommended to have Pokémon at or above level 32 to keep up with the battles. This is how to beat Atticus, the Poison Crew Leader, in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

When approaching the Poison Crew in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players should get their Pokémon to at least level 32. By this point, it is recommended that players already have beaten both the Dark and Fire Crews. The Grunt that players fight when approaching the gates to the base has two Pokémon, a level 30 Gulpin and a level 31 Shroodle. Because these Pokémon are unevolved, they should go down easily with a super effective Ground or Psychic move. Even neutral moves like Water or Fire will do the trick if players want to use their Starters.

After entering the gate, then players will have to take out 30 Pokémon with the first three Pokémon in their party. If they need healing at any point, they can be healed at the vending machines around the level. With 10 minutes to take out the wave of Pokémon, this shouldn't be much of an issue. If it is, leveling up more and using Pokémon with Types that resist Poison moves should make it easier. These Types are Poison, Rock, Ground, and Ghost, with Steel being immune to all Poison moves. The Pokémon that are sent out during the wave are:

  • Foongus and Amoongus - Grass/Poison weak to Flying, Fire, Ice, and Psychic.
  • Gulpin and Swallot - Pure Poison weak to Psychic and Ground.
  • Venonat - Pure Poison weak to Psychic and Ground.
  • Paldean Wooper and Clodsire - Poison/Ground weak to Water, Psychic, Ground, and Ice.
  • Varoom - Steel/Poison weak to Ground and Fire.
  • Grafaiai - Poison/Normal weak to Psychic and Ground.
  • Grimer - Pure Poison weak to Psychic and Ground.
  • Seviper - Pure Poison weak to Psychic and Ground.
  • Gastly - Ghost/Poison weak to Ghost, Psychic, and Dark.

How to beat Atticus (Team Star Poison Boss) in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

The boss of the Poison Crew, Atticus, uses four Pokémon all at level 32. Each Pokémon has some type of coverage against Psychic Pokémon players might be using, but won't have much to hit against a Ground Type. Atticus uses Skuntank, Muk, Revavroom, and their Navi Starmobile, which is piloted by a Revavroom and has the same Typing, Poison/Steel. Skuntank is part Dark Type, making it the only Pokémon immune to Psychic moves on his team. After the fight is over, players can begin heading to the Normal Gym.
