Iron Leaves is a Grass/Psychic-type combination, so Ghost-type, Dark-Type, and Fire-Type Pokémon are the best counters for the Unova Legendary. Because it's a 5-Star Raid, players should have a relatively easy time defeating Paradox Virizion. However, below are the best Iron Leaves counters in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Gholdengo (Ability: Good as Gold/Held Item: Shell Bell)
    • Nasty Plot
    • Shadow Ball
    • Recover
    • Metal Sound
  • Kingambit (Ability: Defiant/Held Item: Shell Bell)
    • Swords Dance
    • Kowtow Cleave
    • Poison Jab
    • X-Scissor
  • Skeledirge (Ability: Unaware/Held Item: Throat Spray)
    • Torch Song
    • Will-O-Wisp
    • Shadow Ball
    • Slack Off
  • Meowscarada (Ability: Protean/Held Item: Shell Bell)
    • Night Slash

    • Bulk Up
    • Crunch
    • Reflect

The main strategy with Gholdgengo is to use Nasty Plot to sharply raise its Special Attack stat and then launch into Shadow Ball. The super effective attack will melt Iron Leaves HP down quickly. Similarly, Hydregion can also use Dark Pulse with the same setup. For those that use Meowscarada, Hone Claws will raise its Attack stat, making Night Slash a powerful super-effective move against the Legendary.

Fuecoco evolution Skeledirge is a strong counter against Iron Leaves due to it being both Ghost and Fire-type. With the Throat Spray Held Item equipped, Torch Song becomes devastating as it continuously raises your Special Attack stat each time you use it.
