How to evolve Duraludon into Archaludon in The Indigo Disk Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Duraludon can evolve now?

Though Duraludon was introduced back in Pokémon Sword and Shield, it received a new evolution in the Indigo Disk DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: the fearsome Archaludon. Here's how you can evolve Duraludon into Archaludon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

To get Archaludon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you'll first need to catch and evolve a Duraludon. Unlike many other Pokémon, Duraludon doesn't evolve by hitting a certain level; instead, you'll need to buy a Metal Alloy and use it on your Duraludon. This is a multi-step process, so read on below to learn everything you need to know.

Duraludon is not available in the base game of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It can only be found in the Terarium at Blueberry Academy, a location only accessible in The Indigo Disk DLC. You can encounter wild Duraludon in the mountains of the Polar Biome, located at the northwest corner of the Terarium (pictured above).

Wild Duraludon are high-leveled and prone to using STAB moves like Flash Cannon, so bring your strongest Pokémon and be prepared to inflict status effects. Once you have a Duraludon, though, you can evolve it at any time using a Metal Alloy.

Metal Alloys can be purchased from the School Store at Blueberry Academy for 300 BP. However, you won't be able to access the store immediately; you'll need to make some progress in the story first. The following objectives must be completed to unlock the School Store:

  • Capture an Alolan form Pokémon during class at the Terarium.
  • Battle Carmine at the Central Plaza.
  • Meet Drayton and contribute BP to the Baseball Club.

At this point, you'll be able to roam freely around Blueberry Academy and visit the School Store. If you have enough BP, you can speak to the clerk behind the counter and purchase a Metal Alloy from him. If you're just starting out in The Indigo Disk DLC, though, you'll need to do some Blueberry Quests to earn enough BP.

To evolve Duraludon into Archaludon, select the Metal Alloy under the Other Items tab in your Bag. Then, choose Use this item and select Duraludon in your party. You will immediately enter an evolution cutscene, during which your Duraludon will transform into Archaludon.

Archaludon is a powerful Steel/Dragon-type Pokémon with high Defense and Special Attack. I recommend teaching it moves like Draco Meteor and Steel Beam to take advantage of its offensive power. Alternatively, moves like Iron Defense and Rest can bolster Archaludon's defenses and turn it into an impenetrable wall for your team.
