How to use the Union Circle in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Keep those Link Codes hidden, streamers!

The Union Circle in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is how players form a cooperative party in each other's worlds. This was done with some limitations in Sword and Shield, but in Paldea, players can play their own separate stories while staying in the same world. It has barely any limitations, making this the most ambitious multiplayer Pokémon has seen. This is how to use and when to unlock Union Circle in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Trading, raiding, and opening your world to multiplayer can all be done online in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. To unlock the ability to either host your world or join someone else's, players will have to get past roughly an hour to two of the tutorial. Once players get past the area of the game where they have to view the region from the lighthouse, they will be able to get to their first Pokémon Center and access multiplayer by interacting with the sign outside or from their menus.

The Union Circle is how players can play with each other in one world with up to four people. There are two ways of playing with each other, either Online or Offline.

  • Offline - Players will connect to nearby Switches using a four-digit Link Code.
  • Online - Players will connect to players anywhere in the world after going online in the Poké Portal using the L Button. They will then use a six-digit Link Code to connect.

One person must be the host, choosing to Form a group, while the players must Join a group to enter the host's Link Code at the bottom of their screen. Once players are connected, they can see each other in the game, see their location on the map, and even use their meal powers together to catch Pokémon.
