What is the Academy Ace Tournament in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

Build the best team you possibly can!

The Academy Ace Tournament is one of the many endgame activities you can participate in while playing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This is a series of high-level battles against different trainers that you've met in your travels. By high-level, we mean that your opponents will only have Pokémon with a minimum level of 65, making for some tough challenges.

You'll be facing against these trainers at random and you can earn different rewards for participating, including Heavy Balls, Rare Candies, and Gold Bottle Caps. Since these are Pokémon battles, you'll also earn Pokédollars for every victory. But, how exactly do you unlock the Academy Ace Tournament in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

How to unlock the Academy Ace Tournament in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

As mentioned above, it is important to note that the Academy Ace Tournament is exclusively an endgame activity. That means that you need to have defeated all eight gym leaders, defeated all the Team Star leaders, and completed the Path of Legends storyline. You will also need to complete the final Great Crater of Paldea storyline.

Once you've done all of that, you can return to Naranja Academy and speak with the person at the front desk to begin the process. Another catch to unlock the Academy Ace Tournament is to defeat all eight gym leaders a second time. Using these matches, you can prepare your party to be a competitive-ready team!
