Where to catch Rockruff in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Who's a good boy?

Rockruff, a very good boy (or girl) from Generation VII, can also be found in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It still retains the unique mechanic of evolving into different forms of Lycanroc depending on what time of day it reaches level 25. Rockruff is thankfully not too difficult to find if you want to add this rocking pup to your team. Here's where to find it.

Rockruff can primarily be found in the West Province (Area One). You'll spot lots of them on the road from Cortondo to Cascarrafa, where we found ours. You'll likely also face Giacomo and the Bombirdier Titan Pokémon while you are here.

If you are looking to catch a Rockruff, be careful of using Water-type or Grass-type moves, as these are super-effective against a Rock-type Pokémon like Rockruff. You will not be able to catch it if it is knocked out. To give yourself better odds, you can afflict Rockruff with a status ailment like Sleep by using a move like Hypnosis or Sing. The Rockruffs found in West Province (Area One) are also leveled about 15 to 20, so defeating Brassius, the Grass-type Gym leader in Artazon, will increase your chances of success in catching this Pokémon.
