Barry’s full Pokémon team in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Barry has no right to be this good.

Barry is the rival character in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Compared to other rivals, his team is actually made up of really good and many rare Pokémon that can be tough to beat. Fortunately, the task is much easier if you know what his full team looks like going in.

Barry will always have three staple Pokémon in his final team: Staraptor, Snorlax, and Heracross. The other three will depend on the Starter you chose.

  • If you choose Chimchar, he’ll have a Rapidash, Roserade, and Empoleon.
  • If your chose Piplup, he’ll have a Rapidash, Floatzel, and Torterra.
  • Finally, if you chose Turtwig, he’ll have a Floatzel, Roserade, and Infernape.

A Fighting-type, such as Lucario, is a must-have to beat Snorlax quickly.

Heracross has a massive base Attack stat of 125 and is one of the fastest Pokémon in the game. If you don’t have Torterra and Infernape, make sure you have a competent fire or grass type on your team, such as Rapidash or Roserade... which Barry also has. See what makes his team so lethal?

Floatzel and Staraptor can be fought with any powerful electric type, like Luxray or Magneton.
