Best things to do on Charmander Community Day

This event will be fire.

Charmander Community Day is going to be a big event for many Pokémon GO fans. Some are definitely looking to raise a Charizard with Blast Burn for Raids and Battle League.

There are plenty of other perks outside of just catching Charmander, though, that trainers should take full advantage of.

How to make the most of Charmander Community Day in Pokémon GO

Evolve Charmander during the event

If trainers have the right amount of candy, they should definitely evolve Charmander into Charmeleon and then Charizard during this event in Pokémon GO. If this is done, Charizard will get access to Dragon Breath, which can hit Dragon-types for super effective damage.

Right now, Charizard's preferred fast move is Fire Spin. Dragon Breath might not be able to compete with the energy gain that Fire Spin has, but it gets pretty close. Charizard does easily get countered by Dragon types, so Dragon Breath might be a good move to fix this bad matchup.

Catch as many Charmander as possible

Shiny Charmander will be roaming the wild on Community Day, so trainers would do well to get as many encounters as possible. Charizard, in particular, has a very nice shiny skin, with a black coat that almost makes it look like Mega Charizard X.

Buy the Exclusive Research Special Story

Of course, free-to-play trainers won't like to hear this. The Exclusive Special Research Story only costs 1 USD, however. Trainers can get Mega Charizard Energy out of this, which is a very rare commodity. There is no telling the next time Mega Charizard will be in raids, so I personally recommend loading up during this event. Some other Mega Charizard Energy can be obtained through Field and Timed Research.

Get the Community Day Box

The Community Box is worth it just for the Elite Charged TM. Since trainers can easily walk away from this event with a Charizard, they might as well use the Elite Charged TM to teach it Blast Burn, which is arguably the best Fire-type move in the game. Trainers will also be happy with the 30 Ultra Balls they get in this bundle.

Charmander Community Day will take place on October 17, 2023 from 11am to 5pm local time.
