Pokémon GO Fantasy Cup Ultra League Tier List

Get ready to see Registeel, a lot.

Pokémon GO players who participate in the Fantasy Cup are in luck. Only Dragons, Fairies, and Steel-types are legal, but these Pokémon already form a defensive core that checks each other's weaknesses excellently. If you insert the right Pokémon into each type slot, you will have an easy time teambuilding.

Which are the best Pokémon to use in Fantasy Cup Ultra League?

S Tier

  • Registeel
  • Tapu Fini
  • Giratina (Altered)

While some may argue that Registeel belongs in a tier of its own, the bottom line is that the Fantasy Cup meta will revolve around these three Pokémon. With Registeel's longevity, Tapu Fini's damage output, and Giratina's defensive presence, it's going to be difficult to justify Pokémon that aren't these three.

A Tier

  • Registeel (Shadow)
  • Slurpuff
  • Flygon (Shadow)
  • Genesect (Burn)
  • Solagleo

The Shadow version of Registeel isn't as highly valued as the normal version since it doesn't have as much longevity, but it's still a great Pokémon. Slurpuff emerges as one of the best Faries thanks to access to Flamethrower, allowing it to stay in on Steel-types on occasion. Flygon and Genesect are simply great offensive threats, both being able to check two of the three legal types in the Fantasy Cup. Solagleo's Fire Spin can give it the advantage against other Steel-types that don't have Fire or Ground coverage.

B Tier

  • Galarian Weezing
  • Florges
  • Flygon
  • Giratina (Origin)
  • Excadrill
  • Dragonite
  • Magnezone
  • Escavalier
  • Steelix
  • Lucario
  • Dragonite (Shadow)

These are all fair replacements for some of the Pokémon above them. Some have added utility, like Galarian Weezing, a Fairy-type that can counter other Fairy-types. Some usual offensive threats are found here as well, like Lucario and Excadrill. It's probably not ideal to make an entire team out of these, but one or two on a team will be perfectly viable.

C Tier

  • Alolan Sandslash
  • Melmetal
  • Foretress
  • Perrserker
  • Genesect (Douse)
  • Steelix (Shadow)
  • Genesect (Shock)

These are niche picks that can still perform well. Melmetal can be a serviceable replacement for Registeel, sacrificing a bit of bulk for firepower. Alolan Sandslash will also fill a role thanks to Shadow Claw, helping it beat Giratina and Solagleo.

D Tier

  • Everything else

There are some Pokémon who aren't ranked who can help pick up a few wins here and there. For the most reliable results, though, trainers are going to want to use the high-tiered Pokémon.
