If you've already done the Primal Rumblings Special Research, then you have unlocked the GO Tour: Hoenn Global. During this, you'll have to complete the Chasing Legends quest, which is a six-step process that gives you plenty of rewards on every step. Here are the rewards and the best way to complete it.
How to complete Chasing Legends in Pokémon GO
Chasing Legends is a branching quest. That means you will have to decide between Cacnea, Gulpin, and Surskit. Each choice will then branch into a set of steps that change the rewards of the quest. This does not change much, except for the Pokémon you will receive during Step 2.
Step 1
- Power up Pokémon 15 times - 3 Incense
- Branch: Gulpin, Surskit, or Cacnea
Rewards: 5 Kyogre Candy, 5 Groudon Candy, Absol encounter
If you have any Pokémon that you have too many candies for, this is the time for a Power up.
Step 2
- Use an Incense - Gulpin, Surskit, or Cacnea encounter
- Catch 5 Gulpin, Surskit, or Cacnea - Gulpin, Surskit, or Cacnea encounter
- Catch 10 different Species of Pokémon - Gulpin, Surskit, or Cacnea encounter
Rewards: 2 Premium Battle Pass, 30 Poke Balls, 5 Ultra Balls
Using the incense will not only spawn Gulpin, Surskit, or Cacnea around you, but also plenty of other species of Pokémon. Remember to catch them all in variations to complete the third part of the quest.
Step 3
- Spin 15 PokéStops and Gyms - Plusle encounter
- Explore 1 km - Solrock encounter
- Catch 10 Fire, Grass, or Ground-type Pokémon - Trapinch encounter
- Catch 1 Groudon - Volbeat encounter
Rewards: Sunny Castform encounter, 10 Groudon Candy, and 200 Groudon Primal Energy
When you're out for the PokéStops and Gyms, you should be able to complete the second part easily. Be on the lookout for any Fire, Grass, or Ground-type Pokémon in addition to checking any Gyms for a Groudon Battle.
Step 4
- Spin 15 PokéStops and Gyms - Minun encounter
- Explore 1 km - Lunatone encounter
- Catch 10 Water, Electric, or Bug-type Pokémon - Wailmer encounter
- Catch 1 Kyogre - Illumise encounter
Rewards: Rainy Castform encounter, 10 Kyogre Candy, and 200 Kyogre Primal Energy
When you're out for the PokéStops and Gyms, you should be able to complete the second part easily. Be on the lookout for any Water, Electric, or Bug-type Pokémon in addition to checking any Gyms for a Kyogre Battle.
Step 5
- Activate Primal Reversion - 1 Rocket Radar
- Defeat a Team Go Rocket Leader - 3 Revive
Rewards: 1 Charged TM and 1 Fast TM
If you caught a Groudon on Step 3 or a Kyogre on Step 4, then you can simply use Primal Energy to use Primal Reversion on either one of those Pokémon.
Step 6
- Claim Reward! - 2023 XP
- Claim Reward! - 2023 Stardust
Rewards: Spinda encounter
The last step is simply a couple of rewards on top of the final reward from the series of steps that you've completed.
The branching in this quest doesn't really affect anything beyond Step 2, nor are the Pokémon battle-worthy or exclusive. Your choice depends on your personal preference. If you do have this quest, you can complete it on your own accord at your own pace, since it doesn't expire.
