Such is the case with Project Zomboid, and here you will find a few mods that we recommend playing around with in your game. Our mods list will touch upon the quality of life improvements to new items and more.

Disclaimer - Read Before Installing Mods!

Before installing any of the mods we have listed, make sure to read mod descriptions and the latest update dates. The reason is that the recent update broke some mods for the game.

Because of that, it's best to check mods to save a lot of mod troubleshooting down the line. That said, enjoy the mod list below, and if you have any mod recommendations, feel free to leave a comment and add them to the guide. We will also continuously update this guide with new mods as we find them.

The Best Vehicle Mods for Project Zomboid Build 41

Here you will find several of the best vehicle mods we have found for Project Zomboid. Download these mods if you want to expand the current roster of vehicles on offer in the base game.

M113 APC

If you ever wanted a more armored way of moving about in the Zombie apocalypse, our first recommendation would be M113 APC. Simply put, this mod adds a big APC that players can drive around in and crush any foe that stands in their way.

Kentucky Police Pack

In vanilla Project Zomboid, there are not a lot of police cars, luckily this mod fixes that and adds in 23 new police/emergency vehicles.

Filibuster Rhymes' Used Cars!

This next car pack is a nice addition to any vanilla playthrough and adds a ton of 1990s-themed cars to the game.

Autotsar Tuning Atelier - Bus

Have you ever wanted to ride around in the Zombie apocalypse in a bus? Well wonder no longer by adding this mod that adds several bus variants to Project Zomboid.

The Best Quality of Life Mods for Project Zomboid Build 41

Here, you will find a few mods that you can add to your game to improve a few aspects without changing anything drastically.

Better Sorting

The Better Sorting mod is a must-have for those who want a clean inventory space that is also organized. Better Sorting adds much needed tags to various items you find in the game that label them by their purpose and use in-game.

Fuel API

Fuel API is an extremely helpful mod that adds a framework for items storing gas. The mod also adds corpse burning and siphoning features. But the most notable feature is the new gas barrel item that can store tons of fuel.

Water Dispenser

Water Dispenser is an extremely helpful mod that adds a new larger method of storing tons of water at a time. The new water dispensers added by the mod also can be used to drink water. Also, if players have Fuel API, they can use the dispensers to fill them up to full of gas instead.

PZ-ClothingUI

PZ ClothingUI is a nice little mod that allows players to equip clothing items in a more organized manner. The mod adds a custom clothing/armor screen categorized, thus adding a nice little improvement to the game.

Jump Through Windows

A simple mod that does as the name suggests allows the player to jump through windows. To jump through a window, all you have to do is run directly at it, and you will fly through it. But, make sure the window is open, or you will get a lot of glass in places you didn't even know you had.

Zombie Camouflage

Zombie Camouflage is a mod that allows players to camouflage themselves using zombie blood to sneak past the walking dead. Add this mod if you want a nice little way to sneak past zombies.

Just Throw Them Out The Window

In short, this mod allows you to throw dead zombies out of windows and over fences, nothing more, nothing less. Overall, a pretty sweet mod that allows for better management of all of those dead zombies that are sure to pile up around your base.

Sound Direction Indicator

Sound Direction Indicator is a nice little mod that adds a function that points players towards the direction of sounds in the game. For example, if a zombie starts banging on your door or growls, you will see a small red arrow pointing towards it.

Combat Text (B40+B41)

Combat Text adds damage numbers and health bars to the zombies in the game. So when you hit a zombie, you will both see how much damage you did and its current health. It's a nice and decent little mod that we recommend adding if you want to indicate when a zombie will die.

Spear Trap

This mod allows players to place spear traps as a cheap and easy way to kill wandering zombies. Just dig a grave, make a spear, and you are golden.

The Best Overhaul and Buff Mods for Project Zomboid Build 41

Here you will find mods that overhaul certain aspects of Project Zomboid that change and improve things.

Eliaz Better Bags & Backpacks B41

Eliaz's Better Bags and Backpacks increases the weight compacity afforded by the various backpacks and bags players can wear in the game. The mod also allows players to wear fanny packs, satchels, and backpacks simultaneously, doubling storage potential when on the go.

Foraging Buff

If you like survivalist playthroughs, then you will want to get this mod. The reason is simple, any survivalist worth their salt will need to forage, and as it stands, foraging is a little tricky with the new update. Luckily this mod buffs foraging and makes it easier to find items while using the new search feature.

The Best Item and Weapon Mods for Project Zomboid Build 41

The following mods add new items, weapons, and armor/clothes. Add these mods if you desire more content to both find and use in the game.

Bushcraft Gear - Tools

Bushcraft Gear adds a few tools players can find in the game's world. These tools are themed around outdoor survival and are described by the workshop page to "suite different combat styles."

Scrap Armor, Weapons, Guns

These three mods are a series that adds weapons, guns, and armor made from scrap parts via a workshop. We highly recommend giving these mods a shot but make sure to get the workshop mod as all three mods require it.

Brita's Armor and Weapon Packs

These mods add both armor and weapons to the game in a large variety. The armor mod focuses on adding multiple military-style armors, while the weapon mod adds a plethora of firearms.

Vanilla Firearms Expansion

If you want a more vanilla-friendly mod pack that expands on the guns already in Project Zomboid, we would recommend Vanilla Firearms Expansion. Not only does this mod add a few new guns, it also improves the textures of the vanilla firearms and changes a few things here and there.

Antique Armory

Antique Armory is a unique weapon pack that adds numerous medieval and native American weapons to the game. The mod pack also includes crossbows and armor. Add this mod if you want more melee weapon choices or just suit up in full mail or plate armor.
