When does electricity shut off in Project Zomboid?

Here's when electricity shuts off in Project Zomboid.

In Project Zomboid, electricity will eventually shut off and prevent the player from using items such as fridges, ovens, or anything that uses power. Similar to water, the default setting for when the shut-off for electricity happens is around 14 days.

It is important to note that electricity in Project Zomboid won't shut off in 14 days exactly. Electricity shuts off randomly and will shut off on any day in a 14-day period, so you will need to prepare.

The first thing you should do is ignore all perishable food and look for non-perishable items. The reason is that once the power runs out, you will not be able to maintain your perishables by storing them inside a freezer.

Because of this, perishables such as raw/cooked meat or fruit and vegetables will eventually rot and spoil. Luckily, You can counter the lack of power by getting a Generator.

Generators can be found in garages and warehouses, but to use one, you will need to read the How to use Generators manual or have the Electrician occupation.

If you manage to get a Generator up and running, you will be able to use electrical items even after the power shut-offs. To use a generator, you will need to use gas cans, then turn it on. Once turned on, you will be able to use it to power items in a range of 20 tiles.
