It feels like it's almost expected for games to launch with problems. Remember the days when you'd buy the latest release, put it in your console, and everything worked as intended? Not in 2023, apparently. Redfall is no exception, with players facing performance issues on PC and Xbox Series X|S on day one. Here's what you can do to fix it.
How to fix Redfall performance issues on PC and Xbox Series X|S
I was so excited about Redfall after it was announced during E3 2021, and every time Bethesda showed updates, it looked promising. But fast forward to launch day on May 2, 2023, and the game was released with various issues. First Star Wars Jedi: Survivor lagging and stuttering on day one, and now this.

There are a handful of things you can try to boost performance on both PC and Xbox Series X|S, though it's mainly up to the developer to release patches that fix the problems. For now, we'd recommend trying the following:
PC
- Update your GeForce drivers (NVIDIA GPUs only)—On Redfall launch day, NVIDIA released a new GeForce Game Ready Driver that specifically adds support for NVIDIA DLSS 3 (40 series GPUs only) and NVIDIA Reflex.
- Turn on DLSS and NVIDIA Reflex—With the update downloaded and installed, enable DLSS and NVIDIA Reflex, which should help with framerate.
- Change visual settings to Medium and Low—Set Shading Quality, Lower Post Processing Quality, View Distance Quality, Shadow Quality to Low, and Texture Quality, Effects Quality, and Foliage Quality to Medium (or Low, depending on your GPU).
- Disable VSync—This can also help improve framerate.
Xbox Series X|S
- Disable Motion Blur—Motion Blur can make Redfall appear choppier and emphasize screen tearing.
- Turn off Camera Shake—Leaving this option enabled can cause gameplay to feel less fluid, especially since it's currently locked to 30fps.
- Change your Controller Sensitivity—I'd recommend setting it to 4 or 5 for the smoothest experience.
- Change Input Response Preset to Low—This reduces controller input lag.
Does Redfall run at 60fps on Xbox Series X|S?
Currently, Quality Mode is the only performance option available to Xbox Series X|S players, capping Redfall at 30 frames-per-second: 4K 30fps on Series X and 1440p 30fps on Series S. A Performance Mode option that increases FPS to 60 is planned, but there is no release date set.
