Remnant 2 Best Melee Weapons

Guns are too easy, lemme at them!

Remnant 2 provides plenty of firearms to combat the Root infestation throughout the multiverse, but also offers melee weapons for those of us that prefer classic, soulslike action. Switching to hand-to-hand combat certainly takes me back to the good old days of playing Elden Ring and similar titles, but not all weapons are made the same. We have compiled a list of the best melee weapons in Remnant 2 if you want to put your fighting skills to the test.

10 Best Melee Weapons in Remnant 2, Ranked

10 - Royal Broadsword

Royal Broadsword is a large greatsword with a very respectable damage output of 102 points but without any native Mods installed. You can customize it to your own liking, but other than its large melee damage capability, it doesn't stand out from the crowd.

9 - Spectral Blade

Spectral Blade is a high-tech sword that uses a laser to materialize an infinitely sharp edge, essentially making it the Remnant 2 version of a lightsaber. It comes equipped with a Whirlwind mod which creates a multitude of slashes that strike all enemies within 8 meters for 75 damage. It's an excellent crowd-control weapon when fighting multiple low-tier enemies at once.

9 - Weapon

Stonebreaker is another excellent melee weapon with a tremendous damage output of 103 points. When charged, it releases shockwaves that deal 115 damage to enemies in an area. It's a simple yet effective weapon, especially on melee characters.

7 - Gas Giant

Hammers have a special place in my heart, and Gas Giant brings a nice twist to their brutality with the Dying Breath mod. It boosts damage dealt to enemies with the Bleeding status by +25% and +25% when attacking enemies from behind. On top of that, Charge Attacks deal 200 Bleeding damage over 10 seconds. This mod, coupled with an excellent 74 damage output, makes for a very well-rounded melee weapon.

6 - Krell Axe

Krell Axe is, without a doubt, the most solid melee weapon and one of the best weapons overall in Remnant 2. It is a melee weapon that is also throwable, granting you the ability to return it to your hand if you have stamina available. It applies the Overloaded status on hit and deals 50 Shock damage every five seconds for 10s.

5 - Red Doe Staff

Red Doe Staff is an excellent melee weapon that deals a respectable 62 damage and comes with a handy weapon mod, Lifeline. Once you've dealt 250 damage, Lifeline causes your next charge attack to summon the spirit of a Red Doe that stampedes forward, dealing 160 damage to enemies and regenerating 10% Health to allies.

4 - Labyrinth Staff

Labyrinth Staff doesn't have a special mod but is perfect for restoring extra mod power, which you get back by landing hits with it. A charged attack does an AoE shockwave in a small area, generating even more mod power for you.

3 - Atom Splitter

Atom Splitter is a sword variant of the number one weapon on this list. Dishing out an incredible 100 damage, this blade also features a wave of charged particles that deals 150 Damage to targets within 20 meters. Charged Neutral Evade Attacks increase the range of effect by 3x and Damage by 25%.

2 - Iron Greatsword

Iron Greatsword is the trademark weapon of the Challenger Archetype. Despite its placement on our Archetypes tier list in Remnant 2, arming yourself with the Iron Greatsword while playing with Challenger will make you a force to be respected. This sword has the highest raw damage output in the entire game, dealing a massive 105 damage per blow. The only reason why this weapon isn't number one is because, in my experience, Atom Smasher's unique effect makes it just a little bit better.

1 - Atom Smasher

Atom Smasher is a giant, high-tech Warhammer with an insane damage output of 72 and an excellent stagger modifier at 11%. On top of these great stats, using the Atom Smasher is really satisfying, especially when you dive into a crowd of enemies as a Challenger. As an added bonus, the weapon comes equipped with Accelerator mode that makes Charge Melee Attacks increase the speed of all Melee Attacks by 10% for 5 seconds.
