Knowing which units are worth investing your precious gems in can be the difference between victory and defeat when playing Anime Reborn. In this Anime Reborn tier list, you'll find all the information you need to make the best choices for your team, including which units to avoid.
Below, I've ranked all units in Anime Reborn so that you can identify the strongest options for your team. With limited resources and the sheer number of units available, it's crucial to make informed decisions about where to spend your gems.
It’s important to only invest in unit banners that feature higher-tier characters. This guide offers a full breakdown of all units, ensuring you don’t waste valuable gems on units that won’t provide much impact in battle. Remember to play strategically when assembling your team, as you're restricted to using only four units per match at first. You'll unlock your fifth slot at Level 15, and your sixth at Level 30.
Ihigo, Inoke, Kurulin, Laugfy, Leo, Magma, Mr. Set, Noroto, Sukura, Susake, Tin Tin, Usog, Zero.
S Tier - Best Units in Anime Reborn
Unit Name
Reason for S-Tier Ranking
Android 21
An essential unit with full AoE capabilities and impressive stats. Android 21's hill placement allows her to control large areas, and although she loses AoE at max upgrade, her extended range more than compensates.
Dragon Emperor
As a full AoE hybrid unit with high stats and a support passive when evolved, Dragon Emperor is a formidable force. His biggest drawback is the intensive grinding needed to acquire and evolve him, but his power and utility in battle make it worth the effort.
Greybeard
Greybeard has one of the most potent combinations: full AoE, excellent range, and hybrid capabilities. The stun effect he gains when evolved cements his place as a meta-defining unit, making him a reliable choice for both early and late game.
Hawk Eyes
The ultimate boss-killer, Hawk Eyes gets a massive damage boost against bosses, with up to +250% when evolved. His AoE and low speed per attack (SPA) ensure he handles mobs effectively, maintaining his spot in the S-tier for handling challenging scenarios.
Itaha
Itaha's burn effect and excellent DPS combined with his hybrid nature after a few upgrades make him indispensable for dealing with mobs. His range and DoT (damage over time) capabilities give him versatility, placing him among the top choices in the game.
Light
When evolved, Light's passive buff provides a +20% DMG boost to all nearby Light units, making him a key component in many team compositions. While he starts as a ground unit, his later upgrades transform him into a hybrid, offering more versatility.
Mercury
Mercury’s passive lets him ignore elemental damage debuffs, making him viable in any game mode. His line AoE attack and damage-scaling summons allow him to dominate both single-target and crowd-control scenarios. Mercury is a reliable powerhouse in the current meta, solidifying his S-tier position.
Water Goddess
This support unit not only buffs range but also provides damage enhancements to nearby allies. Her low placement cost makes her a strategic addition to any lineup focused on maximizing team synergy. Water Goddess is one of my personal favorites to use during a match.
Yano
Yano is one of the strongest support units in Anime Reborn, applying a near-permanent 50% slow to enemies. His multi-hit attacks and buffs for Wind-type allies make him an essential pick for most team compositions. As a hybrid unit, his versatility is unmatched, making him a must-have for any meta team.
A Tier
Unit Name
Reason for A-Tier Ranking
Brolio
Brolio has solid DPS and range, making him a valuable solo unit for many modes. Although costly to upgrade, his impact on the battlefield justifies his A-tier placement.
Bulba
Bulba's low cost and reliability make her crucial for resource management, though she may not contribute directly to damage output.
Delta Brothers
Seemingly impossible to get, the Delta Brothers have an effect where their SPA time decreases by 5% every 10 hits, up to a maximum of 20%. That's just kind of boring for a unit that everyone is struggling to unlock, but I can see the appeal in having a unit that can let off its most powerful attack more often.
Gohun
I know, I know. Gohun is meta in Anime Reborn, and everyone wants him, but the fact is that he's weirdly difficult to get. When compared to the other S-tier units in this list, the effort almost isn't worth it. However, if you do manage to get him, he is immune to being stunned, and his special attack time is short.
Oda
Oda features high range and solid DPS, with an added crit chance boost when other units are placed nearby. His large AoE at max upgrades makes him a strong unit, but his inability to target air units prevents him from reaching S-tier.
Osta
Osta is the go-to unit for breaking shields, instantly removing them with his attacks. He’s immune to crowd control from bosses, and pairing him with Yamo gives him additional buffs, improving his damage and attack speed. Despite only targeting ground enemies, Osta’s effectiveness against shields secures his spot in A-tier.
Speedcart
The best farm unit in Anime Reborn, Speedcart's passive reduces the upgrade costs of nearby units, making her invaluable for resource management in Infinite mode and longer battles.
Sun Prodigy
An early-access exclusive, Sun Prodigy features burn damage and decent DPS. Though not the best mythic, his multiple placements make him a viable temporary option until better mythics are obtained.
Super Gohu
A hill unit with good DPS, Super Gohu falls short due to his line attack and underwhelming passive. He is useful but overshadowed by other units in terms of versatility.
Time Wizard
While Time Wizard's placement cost of $9,750 makes him impractical for early game stages, his unmatched range, high DPS, and 55% slow effect on all enemies in range make him a great choice once you can afford to place him. His active ability, which completely stops enemies for several seconds, is a game-changer for tough waves
Vegoto
People are going to absolutely disagree with me putting Vegoto here, but his increased range and power level helped me out of a lot of tight spots. He may not be able to compete with S-tier units, but his overall performance is solid.
Yamo
Yamo is a great hybrid support/DPS unit who shines in boosting team damage. He provides +35% DMG to Dark units in range and adds +15% Crit Rate and Crit DMG to all units. His own DPS is solid, and his versatility makes him an excellent addition to most teams.
B Tier
Unit Name
Reason for B-Tier Ranking
Boulder Lee
With full AoE at max upgrades, Boulder Lee shines in Infinite mode. However, his high upgrade cost makes him less efficient in shorter battles, which affects his rank.
Darkbeard
This unit's full AoE damage and slowing effect make him an effective support. Despite being expensive to upgrade, his utility keeps him competitive in B-tier.
Droid 18
Droid 18 is in B-tier because she's not very impressive, but she's a legendary that won't cost you a ridiculous amount to get. She's a good hill unit to have if you're stuck and need a DPS.
King Rimura
The weakest of the secret units, King Rimura has decent range and damage but suffers from a slow SPA and lack of AoE. He’s better than most lower-tier units but struggles to stand out.
Kuzar
Kuzar has high DPS and low SPA, turning into a hybrid with upgrades. His single-target and AoE capabilities make him useful for starting players but not top-tier.
Lcuky One
Lucky One’s ability to stun enemies with every attack is great for slowing down waves, but his personal damage output is underwhelming. While he can recover from stuns with stat boosts, his primary value lies in support rather than DPS.
Payne
While Payne's full AoE and stun capability are valuable, his lackluster DPS and slow SPA hold him back from being a top pick. He is decent for utility but not a game-changer.
Pikkora Yellow
Pikkora Yellow can only target ground enemies and his evolution is a better version. If you need to evolve a unit for them to be more useful, they can't exactly be one of the best units to play.
Ruki
A great support unit, Ruki can freeze enemies with her attacks and provides solid DPS. Her freeze stacks with slow debuffs, making her great for crowd control.
Sensei
Sensei is a solid epic unit with decent DPS, a quick SPA, and good range. While he lacks flashy passives or hard-hitting AoE attacks, his Hitman passive allows him to gain up to +15% extra damage through eliminations. As a ground unit with a Fire element costing $650, Sensei is a reliable pick but not exceptional.
Yune Gossi
If you need a unit that can break through your enemies' defenses, Yune Gossi is a good choice. She also has a decent AoE attack, but she isn't a groundbreaking unit that absolutely must be on your team.
C Tier
Unit Name
Reason for C-Tier Ranking
Gurdon
Gurdon’s Poison DoT is his main selling point, lasting for up to 25 seconds and making him the standout among Black Clover legendaries. However, his overall DPS falls short compared to other options. As a ground unit with a Dark element costing $670, Gurdon is a decent but underwhelming choice.
Heyey
Poor range and damage keep Heyey from being competitive, making him one of the worst epic units in the game.
Jonas
Despite being a decent DPS, there's no real reason to waste your diamonds rolling for Jonas unless you need a Fire unit to complete the star requirements on a map. Not completely useless, but doesn't deserve to be higher than C-tier.
Killa
A support unit with a stun and decent SPA, but outshined by better options like Ruki and Darkbeard. His ability to target air units can be situationally useful.
Neja
Neja is unimpressive on placement but improves significantly with full upgrades, featuring full AoE and decent DPS. He’s only worthwhile if you need a mid-game epic.
Noille
Noille performs well as a hill unit with affordable placement and respectable DPS. Her unique ability to generate +100% yen from kills adds utility as a secondary farm unit. Unfortunately, her line AoE attack limits her damage output significantly, keeping her from reaching higher tiers.
Nonomi
Nonomi increases the damage enemies take by 35%, giving a helpful edge against bosses. While his utility can occasionally make a difference, he doesn’t offer much outside of those specific scenarios, limiting his overall usefulness.
Pun
I wanted to put Pun higher but their passive is misleading. Although it states that Pun buffs the DMG of any unit they're in the radius of, that effect actually only works on other Puns.
Red Boss
A good starter DPS for new players who don't want to use the same epic units that everyone else has.
Sijin
The best rare unit with full AoE, burn, and good range. Sijin is a strong early-game carry but falls off as players gain access to higher-tier units.
Uriu
As a hill unit with mediocre stats and a low 25% slow chance, Uriu isn’t impactful, but may help in niche scenarios.
Yaske
Good DPS and range make Yaske a solid starter unit, though he’s outclassed by better legendaries and mythics.
Zenit
A strong epic starter unit with full AoE the moment you place him. But, Zenit loses that advantage after upgrading. Useful for early matches but should be replaced later.
D Tier
Unit Name
Reason for D-Tier Ranking
Ihigo
With a decent range and air-targeting capabilities, Ihigo is the best starter for new Anime Reborn players, but lacks the necessary strength that units need as you progress. I started with Ihigo and quickly replaced him with Water Goddess as my main.
Inoke
Similar to Heyey, but with poorer range and damage, making him ineffective.
Kurulin
A rare unit that targets air, which is helpful for early story maps but becomes obsolete quickly.
Laugfy
With a cone AoE, Laugfy is an average early starter but doesn't stand out later in the game.
Leo
Leo’s Burn DoT and reasonable shield-breaking ability make him a serviceable unit in specific scenarios, but his slow SPA and subpar DPS leave much to be desired. Compared to other legendary units, he struggles to justify a spot on most teams.
Magma
Magma’s Burn status effect, lasting 3 seconds with each attack, adds some utility to his kit, but his overall performance is lackluster. As a ground unit costing $800, he fails to stand out among other legendary units. Magma is best avoided unless no better options are available.
Mr. Set
Were we expecting Mr. Satan's character to be good? I wasn't. He has a poor AoE and can only fight ground enemies.
Noroto
Viable for his passive that increases damage when other Norotos are nearby, but still lacks any real impact.
Sukura
One of the weakest rare units, though her cheap placement cost could be useful for beginners.
Susake
Slightly better DPS than the lowest-tier units but not enough to be competitive.
Tin Tin
Tin Tin's passive 10% attack boost is negligible and doesn’t make a difference in gameplay.
Usog
One of the only rares that can target air, making him situationally useful, but his low overall stats limit his value.
Zero
With poor DPS, Zero is outclassed by virtually all other rare units.
