The fastest progression path is redeeming all codes and free rewards, doing Story Stages until level 10 with whatever Legendary you manage to get, getting Fastwagon for yen generation, then Goki and Vegata and awakening them, getting Kerashi for faster lower stage clears, farming Madora in Squadron Stages for Ninja Village and awakening him, completing the Primal Fusion quest to get Gometa, then farming Puppeteer in Katakara Bridge Challenge mode, all the while rolling for better traits/stats and making some gear for those units.
Anime Squadron is fairly overwhelming at the start, as it doesn't do much in terms of explaining or laying out a clear progression path, with its many units, stages, reward systems, and the numerous ways to upgrade your units via Awakening, Crafting, Trait Reroll, and Awakening. This Complete Progression Guide will serve as a reference on what to focus on to get your end-game-ready squad from the very first step, so you can farm out whatever you want - whenever you want. At its core, Anime Squadron is meant to be played half-afk, so you should know what to farm at what point.
What Should You Do First In Anime Squadron
If you've just logged in and are unsure what to do in Anime Squadron first, we suggest checking the Codes in the Update Log. Then redeem them in the Codes section on the screen after closing the Update Log. They usually contain tons of free Gold, Summoning Gems, and sometimes even units or materials!
Then head over to the Update Event NPC and Group Rewards NPC, sign up for the next update and join the group for more free rewards. Then open the Daily rewards and pick up the reward there
After you're done picking up the freebies, open up the Beginner Missions and pick up anything you might have already done, and make a mental note to come back here once you've done a few stages.
What Units To Summon First In Anime Squadron
Anime Squadron has 2 banners - Basic Banner available as soon as you start playing the game and Selection Banner, available at level 10.
As you will have some Gems from all the codes and one-time rewards, you may be tempted to just spend them all on the Basic Banner. This is not recommended, as not all units are made equal. Roll a bit until you get at least one epic or legendary damage dealer (any will do super early) - then only ever roll on the Basic Banner if Kerashi, Goki, Vegata (all of which are mythic) or Fastwagon (an epic unit) are currently active. This changes every hour, so make sure to check back.
Kerashi is the fastest unit, excluding Woo (which is a 15.000 pity or 0.0075% pull-rate unit on the Basic Banner). You will be using it for speed farming materials and other easier stages later on.
Goki and Vegata are required for the Primal Fusion quest, which will allow you to get your 1st Milestone unit - Gometa (SSJ4).
Fastwagon is going to be useful for the entire game as he generates yen, and you need a ton of yen for the later stages.
When you are able to use the Selection Banner, select either one of the units you don't already have, with Goki and Vegata taking priority.

What Should You Focus On Early In Anime Squadron
The most important thing to focus on early in Anime Squadron is to complete the Story Stages on both normal and hard difficulties to grab the one-time XP and Gem rewards. This will zoom you through the levels, and your first goal is level 10, so you can start using the Selection Banner and start filling out your team with the best units.
Before stepping foot into any stages, you should upgrade your Maximum Yen and Yen Generation perks to around level 3-5, depending on how rewarding the codes are and how much gold you have available. Just make sure your Maximum Yen is at least 2000 so that you can summon mythic units at stage start. You should definitely upgrade these as you progress, but try to always have at least some Gold, as you'll want to start awakening units at some point. Health is honestly useless, so don't even bother.

Make sure to check the Board next to the Play section specifically for any GT City bounties, as this is the first set of stages you will be clearing, so why not work on it at the same time.
Most importantly - Do not put too many units in your team. Putting Fastwagon and your best Damage Dealer in the team should be more than enough to handle all the stages. Putting too many units spreads your Yen too thin, preventing you from upgrading Fastwagon and the Damage Dealer in time.
As you clear stages, check your Battle Pass, Daily Quest, Weekly Quest, and any other rewards marked with (!) to get more free things!

What To Do When You Get Stuck In Anime Squadron In Early Game
Early on you don't have many upgrade avenues available to you, and if you use most of them, you will very quickly drain your resources. The most basic way to progress early on takes the following logic:
- Can I upgrade any of my units with Food?
- Can I upgrade my Maximum Yen or Yen Generation (With Yen Generation taking priority)
- Can I roll for one of the better Mythic Units and have enough for Pity rolls?
And if the answer to any of those is no, go back to GT City Stage 1 Hard mode - this is the most efficient use of your time to get more gems and XP while also farming more food, as these don't really scale with the stage difficulty in Story Mode. Gems will convert into gold when you get units you don't need, and XP will give you milestone rewards for every 5th level. Be ready to spend a lot of time in this stage when you get stuck. Look into the other modes, and if you can clear any of the Squadron Stages for their first-time rewards, and do the Daily Challenge whenever you're able to.
How To Progress To Mid Game in Anime Squadron
TIP: Before moving on to this section, it is probably best that you focus on getting Goki and Vegata, as Gometa is required to progress further in any sensible time and will be a staple on your team all the way into late Endgame. Both of these units are necessary in order to get Gometa, and besides you will use both of them to farm the other units you will need. Kerashi is also recommended for way faster farming but is not strictly required; it will just make your life easier.
Alright, so you've done your Story stages, you've hit level 10, you've grinded - so what now?
In case you ran around a bit through the place, you will notice you can do the following things with your units - and they're sorted in order of importance:
- Awakening
- Rolling Traits
- Rerolling Stats
- Crafting Gear
Your first major milestone will have to do with Awakening Goki and Vegata - both of which require farming different stages for various materials. Go to the Awakening NPC and check where each material drops, then go farm them.
In case you haven't yet done so, you can take your Goki to the Trait Reroll NPC and select Rebirth, Entrepreneur, Cloner, or Superior in the config, and test your luck. If you hit Cloner - you win, and if you hit Superior, you will never ever reroll this unit. If you happen to have 800 trait shards, you can keep rerolling until you hit the pity for it and if you get 450 more (so 1250 total) you can keep rolling until you hit the Superior pity.
As for rerolling stats, early on, try to focus mostly on damage and speed, and target anything that's A and above. For now, save any Perfect cubes you may have stored. If you hit an S or above, you can use them, but only for Goki.
TIP: You increase the odds of better stats by using the unit you're rerolling the stats of, so try to have a farm session, then reroll
Crafting gear is something you will focus more on later on, but in case you have some spare materials for the cheaper stuff, you can make some of it for a small boost.

In case you haven't yet, in Quests under Special, navigate to Primal Fusion and check the requirements there. This is what you will be working towards. Use the combination of everything you've learned in this section and in early-game sections until you're able to farm Chapter 4 of Ninja Village Squadron Stage on both Normal and Hard - Normal for the unit, and Hard for the awakening material. He will be an immense help in grinding raid stages, and you will need to do at least 20 runs of GT City Raid Act 4 and 80 more runs of any raid stage. Besides, he will remain useful all the way into endgame (I still use him in my endgame farms on the hardest stages), so feel free to use trait shards and reroll cubes on him.
Goki, Vegata, and Fastwagon, with enough levels in your Perks, should be enough to handle the Ninja Village Squadron Stages.
The last part of the quest is easy but it will just take some time in auto-play, and it doesn't care how far you go - just do 500 infinite waves.
After all that - When you awaken Gometa - It is time to slowly transition into endgame.
How To Progress To End Game in Anime Squadron
TIP: Before moving on to this section, besides having Gometa with at least Cloner, Fastwagon with at least Entrepeneur or Wealthy, and a decent Madora it is recommended you also get Shinks (even an unawakened one works) Beby, Android or some other low investment support units. At this point, you should also have full gear sets on Gometa and Madora. If you feel like you're struggling, grind some faster/lower stages with Kerashi and upgrade your perks more.
With Gometa and Madora secured you're almost fully end-game viable - There's but one more unit you should strive to get and this is Puppeteer - Available on Challenge - Katakara Bridge. You need to be able to do both Normal and Hard for the Unit and Awakening Materials, respectively. He is an amazing tank and will remain in your team deep into the endgame.
At this point, if you've assembled your team of Gometa, Fastwagon, Madora, Shinks/Other supports, and Puppeteer, you're basically ready to farm anything - it's only a matter of upgrading your units to Superior or Cloner at the very least, fully gearing them (except Fastwagon), and rolling most of their stats into the S or S+ range. You should start using your Perfect Cubes as well if you haven't already.
What remains to do here is simply farm out the rest of the S-tier units, or focus on completion - getting/awakening all the units, such as Berserker, Bralu, Gometa (Blue) - with his massive 15000 pity, Baras, Freezer, etc; but the order you do them is entirely dependent on their tier list placement in the current meta or your personal preferences.
