Cursed Gear Gears Tier List - Best Classes Ranked

In Roblox Cursed Gear, Gears serve as the game’s core class and skill tree system. They define your primary combat style by granting a unique set of active skills and passive abilities that can be upgraded over time. As such, you can imagine that choosing the right Gear is essential for dominating the meta.

There are currently 9 Gears avilable in the game (Usurper, Ravager, Projector, Executioner, Manipulator, Hydra, Interceptor, Sensor, and Constructor), each with its own strengths and weaknesses. Below, we ranked them all based on the current release meta.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This list is still a work in progress. It is based on currently available data and pre-release testing, so some values and effects may change. We will keep a close eye on balance updates and update the article accordingly.

Gear & Tier Passives & Active Abilities Evaluation
Usurper
S TIER
Passives:
Domination: M2 becomes a backhand swipe. Can dodge while charging to close distance. Feint M1 into M2. [7+] Long charge Guard Crushes.
Intense Focus: Stamina regenerates much faster while standing still.
Disrespect: Charge M1 after knocking an opponent to perform an execute stomp.
Actives:
Wavedash (S+W or W+W): Slide forward. Prerequisite for most moves.
Daemon Sweeps (Wavedash + M2): Quick sweep. [5+] Apply brief knockdown. Can Black Flash second kick.
Windswept God Fist (Wavedash + M1): Quick uppercut; resets M1 string.
Electric WGF (Wavedash + E + M1): Charged uppercut; launches into air with heavy stun.
Pinpoint (V): Whirlwind kick. After Wavedash, it teleports to nearest opponent. After EWGF, slams opponent down.
Subjugate (E + M2): Rush grab. [7+] Enhanced animation and significantly increased damage when used on a guard-crushed opponent (via charged M2 Domination.
  • Unmatched combo potential through Wavedash cancels and M1 resets.
  • Possesses the widest arsenal of mixups, forcing opponents to guess between sweeps, grabs, and launchers.
Ravager
S TIER
Passives:
Divergent Flame: Ignite hands on Black Flash or clean Parry. [10] Gain via two uninterrupted Black Flashes.
EX Divergence: While ignited, TRASH and Sweep become EX versions that consume the flame.
Actives:
Howling Blasts (E + M2): Rapid energy blasts.
Sweep (Sprinting + M2): Knock balance off.
Divergent Step (Dodge x2): Quick forward step. Gain iframes while Divergent Flame is active.
TRASH (Hold M1): Powerful grab. [7+] Victim becomes an unblockable projectile.
  • High survivability due to on-demand iframes when Divergent Flame is active.
  • Excellent crowd control; turning an opponent into a projectile can break through defensive lines in group play.
  • EX Divergence adds a strategic layer: while Divergent Flame is active, TRASH and Sweep become enhanced EX versions, but using them consumes the flame, forcing a constant decision between keeping your defensive iframes or spending them for burst damage.
Projector
A TIER
Passives:
Flicker Image: Can Curse Dodge in an alternate direction immediately after a Curse Dodge.
Actives:
Curse Blitz (E + M2): Chase down rush. [8+] Increased duration.
Fakeout (Dodge then M1/M2): Powerful attack. [8+] Hitting from behind dazes the opponent.
Vanishing Rush (Hold M1 + M2 x2): Rush forward blitz. [10] Reduce cooldown on hit.
  • Pure rushdown Gear with the fastest gap-closing in the game.
  • The double-dodge passive allows for high-level baiting and counter-attacking with Fakeout.
Executioner
A TIER
Passives:
Mercenary Grab (V): Grab knocked opponents. Jumps consume zero stamina.
Actives:
Power Strike (Hold M1): Second strike follows the first.
Avalanche (Double Jump + M2): Devastating slash from above.
Triple Strike (Hold M1 + M2 x2): Three consecutive slashes.
Overwhelm (M2 after knockback): Blitzing follow-up. [8+] Becomes unblockable.
  • Superior vertical mobility with zero-stamina jumps, perfect for setting up Avalanche slashes.
  • Heavy hitter that shines once it forces a knockback, where Overwhelm can finish an opponent through their block.
  • Mercenary Grab lets Executioner grab knocked opponents, creating a lethal loop: land a knockback, follow up with unblockable Overwhelm, then grab the knocked target for continued pressure.
Manipulator
B TIER
Passives:
Levitate: Float by holding Space after double jump while holding Cursed Energy.
Curse Sense: Passive ability to detect presences.
Actives:
Energy Blast (E + M2): Chargeable energy projectile.
Energy Burst (F + M2): Block counter. [7+] 1s hold increases posture damage by 50% and health damage by 10%.
Telekinesis (V): Manipulate opponents from distance.
Grand Energy Axiom (Levitate + E + M2): Create a vacuum that pulls enemies in.
  • Specializes in aerial zoning and grouping enemies together, making it a high-tier support Gear for team raids.
  • Vulnerable on the ground and relies heavily on Cursed Energy management to maintain space.
  • Energy Burst provides a solid ground-level counter option, especially at [7+] where the held version deals significantly increased posture and health damage, giving Manipulator a punish tool even when grounded.
Hydra
B TIER
Passives: Eight Headed (Passive).
Actives: Curse Blitz, Telekinesis, Downstrike, Floating Kick.
  • Detailed skill descriptions are not yet publicly available.
  • A well-rounded fighter that focuses on multiple fast strikes.
Interceptor
B TIER
Passives: Predator’s Guard (Passive).
Actives: Divergent Armament, Blade Blast, Crescent Slash, Crescent Crusher.
  • Defensive counter-specialist. Predator's Guard is excellent for slowing down hyper-aggressive Projectors.
  • Hard to play effectively in the current meta, which favors proactive rushdown over reactive play.
Sensor
B TIER
Actives: Optic Blast, Curse Sense, Flashbang, Probability Collapse.
  • Top-tier reconnaissance Gear. Flashbang provides vital openings in team fights.
  • Low solo potential; its skills are primarily focused on setting up allies rather than finishing foes.
Constructor
C TIER
Passives: Energy Shield (Passive).
Actives: Energy Blast, Barrier Creation, Puppeteer, Energy Construction, Marionette.
  • Strong for PMC base building and static defense during raids.
  • Least effective Gear for expeditions; its barriers and minions are too slow to stop high-speed rushdown opponents.

NOTE: The number inside [] indicates the level a Gear must reach to unlock the listed upgrade for that specific skill.

How to Level Up Gears

To unlock the full potential of your Gear, you should level it up as quickly as possible. Leveling your Gear unlocks major upgrades to both passive and active abilities, typically at the [5+], [7+], [8+], and [10] thresholds. At these levels, skills gain additional properties, making them key milestones where an ability’s power spikes significantly. Here's how to level up your Gears in Cursed Gear:

  1. Gears are leveled up (upgraded) by accumulating Gear EXP.
  2. Items that increase your Gear EXP are called Gear Orbs.
  3. A Gear Orb can be obtained as a random loot drop during expeditions. You can find them in caches, in the open-world environment, as mission rewards, or from defeated enemies.
  4. Once you find a Gear Orb, using it will increase your Gear EXP and consume the Orb, as it is a one-time item.

In addition to Gear Orbs, you can also upgrade a specific skill up to Level 5 by purchasing a Skill Upgrade for 200 Heian Rating (HR) from the Kogane NPC. Kogane operates the Neo Shibuya Black Market. Finally, one very important thing to mention is Augment Orbs, which change how a Gear skill functions. They contain a random augment to one skill of several Gears available.

How to Swap Gears in Cursed Gear

If you want to change your current Gear and adjust your builds, you will need to use the Auto-Doc Station. This is special equipment found inside your PMC (Private Military Company) Base HQ. If you want to swap your Gear, shuffle your attributes, or recover from an expedition, you interact with the Auto-Doc.

The PMC serves as the headquarters for your player-made faction. It becomes available at Grade 4 in Neo Shibuya, at which point it also becomes your default spawn point. This will be your central hub for many gameplay aspects, including tweaks, build adjustments, and preparation.

It’s important to note that your Gear Level does not transfer when switching to a new Gear. Every new Gear starts at Level 1, regardless of the level of your previously equipped Gear (even if it was Level 10, for example).

Heavenly Restriction Gear Constraints

If you happen to be incredibly lucky and roll a 1% Heavenly Restriction Clan trait, you'll open up a distinctly different playstyle with a bunch of unique mechanics and buffs. However, this also comes with a trade-off: you are permanently locked out of 5 of the 9 Gears, because they require Cursed Energy. These are:

  • Constructor
  • Hydra
  • Interceptor
  • Manipulator
  • Sensor

Players with Heavenly Restriction can use the remaining four Gears but are locked out of all Cursed Techniques. This is because Gears define your physical combat foundation, while Techniques act as a Cursed Energy-based overlay. As a result, these players are limited to four Gears - Executioner, Projector, Ravager, and Usurper - since the others rely on Cursed Energy. For more details, check out our dedicated Cursed Gear Heavenly Restriction guide.

Best Stat for Every Gear in Cursed Gear

Gear skills scale with specific attributes. Executioner scales with Physicality, while Manipulator, Sensor, Constructor, and Projector scale with Output. Interceptor is a hybrid that scales with both Output and Physicality. Usurper uniquely scales with Output and Efficiency, making stamina management a core part of its build.

RELATED: Cursed Gear Attributes Guide - Best Stats

Dexterity increases movement speed for all Gears, but is especially valuable for rushdown playstyles like Projector. Here’s a complete breakdown of the best stats for every Gear:

  • Usurper: Efficiency + Output
  • Projector: Output + Dexterity
  • Executioner: Physicality + Awareness
  • Interceptor: Output + Physicality
  • Manipulator: Output + Efficiency
  • Sensor: Output + Awareness
  • Constructor: Output + Efficiency
  • Ravager: Awareness + Physicality
  • Hydra: Output + Efficiency

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the best PvP Gear?

Usurper stands out as the top PvP Gear, with unmatched mixup potential, combo resets via Wavedash, and strong tools like Guard Crush and Pinpoint that make it extremely hard to outplay in 1v1.

What is the best PvE and Expeditions Gear?

Ravager is an excellent choice for Expeditions. Its TRASH skill turns enemies into unblockable projectiles, making it highly effective for clearing dense veils during extraction. On top of that, Divergent Step grants on-demand invincibility frames (iframes), significantly improving survivability against unpredictable AI waves.

What is the best defensive gear?

Interceptor excels as a defensive, counter-focused Gear with Predator’s Guard, but Ravager is often favored for “defensive insurance,” as Divergent Step grants iframes during Divergent Flame, making it better for avoiding high-damage skills entirely.

What is the best offensive gear?

In my opinion, Usurper is the best offensive Gear because its kit is designed entirely around maintaining pressure and creating "mixups." With the ability to reset M1 combo strings using Windswept God Fist and bypass blocks with Domination, it allows a skilled player to deal continuous, heavy damage that most opponents cannot escape.

Does a Gear Orb give EXP to all Gears?

No, you only get experience for the gear you are currently using.

If I switch gears, do I get to keep Gear Level?

You'll keep Gear Level for the Gear you've leveled up, but your new Gear will start fresh from Level 1. Gear EXP is not shared between different Gears - they all level up independently.

How to upgrade Gear Skills?

You can upgrade Gear skills by leveling up a specific Gear with Gear Orbs (random loot) or by purchasing upgrades at the Black Market.

What Gears can Heavenly Restriction players use?

Heavenly Restriction players are restricted to four Gears - Executioner, Projector, Ravager, and Usurper.

What are Augment Orbs, and how do they affect Gears?

Augment Orbs modify how a Gear skill functions. Each one contains a random augment for a skill across several different Gears.
