Mounts are the biggest status symbol in Universal Tower Defense and the best way to show off your achievements to your friends and other players in the lobby, so make sure to follow our guide to find out how you can unlock them!
How to Unlock All Mounts in Universal TD
You can obtain the mounts by completing achievements in the game. They are divided into sections, with most of the later ones hidden until you complete the previous group of achievements that precede them. Below, you'll find what you need to do to unlock every mount, along with some tips to make it easier.
How to Get the Clay Owl
You obtain the Clay Owl by completing the Ninja achievement located in the Story - Stage I section tab. To do so, you must complete all six acts of the Ninja Forest stage on the easy difficulty, either solo or in a group.
This is the first world of the game, so it shouldn't be too difficult to complete, but you'll still need to prepare a good team for it. Make sure to talk to Roku in the lobby and redeem all the codes so you have the best possible start when building your team.
The most effective unit types for this stage are Fire and Rose, with the latter being a bit more useful, especially with Mythic units such as Psycho or Shunks, and even lower rarity ones like Triple Threat being really good here.
Make sure to include Fastcart in your roster, because he's an amazing money farming unit that will make your life a lot easier. He's an Epic unit, so you should be able to pull him easily. You can only place one on the map per level, so make sure to upgrade him fully before you start upgrading your damage-dealing units. As long as you have enough resources, you can easily clear the stage even with lower-tier units.
After finishing Act VI: Relentless Kitsune, you'll be able to unlock the mount. Just make sure to claim your reward by clicking on the Achievements tab on the left side of the screen.
How to Get the Submarine
You obtain the Submarine by completing the Pirate Captain achievement located in the Story - Stage II section tab. To do so, you must complete all six acts of the Marine Base stage on the hard difficulty, either solo or in a group.
The effective unit types for this stage are: Rose, Light, Ice, and Wind. Just like before, make sure you're using Fastcart, so you have an easier time deploying and upgrading your damage dealing units. Some of the best units for this stage are once again Psycho and Shunks, with some lower rarity units like Ruka and Shakumira being good options as well. After finishing Act VI: Dark Emperor, you'll be able to unlock the mount. Just make sure to claim your reward by clicking on the Achievements tab on the left side of the screen.
How to Equip Mounts in Universal TD
While in the lobby, you first need to equip the mount you want before you can start flexing on everyone around you. You do so by:
- Click the Emotes & Mounts button in the top-right corner of the screen.
- A purple selection wheel will open, with an Open Inventory button above it that you need to click.
- This will take you to your Emotes & Mounts Inventory, where you need to select and equip the ones that you want to use, up to a maximum of six.
- Go back to the mount section of the wheel and spawn it into the lobby by clicking on it.
Universal Tower Defense Mounts FAQ
No, sadly, you can't use mounts on any stages; you can only jump around on your own. Hopefully, in a future update, they will let us use them in the levels as well, because it would be more fun than just jumping around on foot.
There is a bug in the game that can prevent you from getting the mount immediately upon completing the achievement. While it's very annoying, there isn't much you can do other than restart the game and wait a bit for it to appear in your inventory. Make sure that you've properly equipped it as well.
You can equip up to four mounts on the wheel, but you can only spawn one at a time.
