- How to get the Key: Knock on 50 different Treaters' doors in the Trick or Treat event.
- How to get the Rune: Reach door number 50 in the Trick or Treat event.
By playing through the new Trick or Treat mode in Doors, you can obtain the Key and the Rune for the Roblox Halloween Spotlight Event. In this guide we'll show you all you need to know in order to survive long enough to complete this challenge.
How to Get the Rune in Doors
In order to get the Rune, you need to knock on 50 different Treaters' doors in the Trick or Treat event mode, which consists of two different subfloors from the Doors main game. Those are The Great Outdoors and The Hotel.
Every time you start a new run, you'll spawn in The Great Outdoors, with plenty of Treater houses and doors in the area you can knock on. Simply walk up and knock on the door and a ghostly specter will appear.

Most of the time the ghost inside is friendly and will drop a piece of Candy on the floor, but be warned that every once in a while they might jump scare you and damage you instead. You need to knock on their doors 50 times to get the Rune for the Halloween Spotlight Event.
As for the Candy they leave behind, make sure to pick it up and eat it. Every piece you eat will give you the Candy Corn currency, which you can use in The Doors event shop to unlock new skins for in game items. More importantly though, it will trigger one of various effects, both bad and good, that can help you survive (or hinder your survival) in the long run.
All Candy Effects in the Doors Trick or Treat Event
Each time you start a new run all the candy effects are randomized between the different appearance types. Each time you pick up a new one, its name will show up as "???" until you eat it and reveal the effect. Every subsequent time you pick up the same candy type it will show the name of the effect it triggers, so make sure you don't eat the bad ones twice.

How to Get the Key in Doors Halloween Spotlight
Getting the Key sounds simple, all you have to do is get to door number 50, although that can be easier said than done. You'll have to be very careful not to fall victim to one of the entities that you can encounter in your journey. We've prepared some helpful tips to increase your odds of survival.
- Test out different candy early in your run and avoid them later. Knowing what the good candies look like and keeping some in your inventory can be instrumental for surviving as you get to higher numbered doors.
- You should never risk trying out new candy as you get further into the run. Losing some HP or other negative effects can be manageable, but summoning an additional entity could end your life on the spot.
- Move quickly through each section, but keep your eyes and ears open, both for any entity that could harm you, but also for any items that can help you out.
- Sheers can unlock bonus chests filled with loot, Flashlights and Lanterns will help you see in areas that are pitch black, Vitamins boost your speed when you need a quick getaway and Crucifix's can help you ward off enemies.
- Keys have a different use than in the regular Great Outdoors section. Here, they can help you unlock Mausoleums that contain a Candy Bag which spawns multiple random candies.
The entities that you can encounter differ depending on the subfloor you're currently in, so pay attention to your surrounding in order to know what you should be looking out for. The ones you can encounter are:
| Entity | Tips |
|---|---|
| The Groundskeeper (Great Outdoors) | He'll mostly leave you alone, as long as you don't step on the grass |
| The Mandrake (Great Outdoors) | Flies at you screaming, will kill you if you don't put it back where it came from. |
| The Snare (Great Outdoor and Greenhouse) | Traps on the ground, will deal a quite a bit of damage if you step on them, as well as briefly stun you. |
| The Rush (Greenhouse and Hotel) | If the lights start to flicker and you hear growling, run and hide in a closet. |
| Eyes (Greenhouse and Hotel) | Don't look at them and sneak past. |
| Sally (Hotel) | You'll know she's coming if you hear laughing. Be ready to give her an item to distract her and buy enough time so you can run away. |
Other monsters might spawn if you eat the wrong candy, so be very careful with that. For a more detailed explanation on each enemy to help you out in getting the Rune and Key in Doors, you can check out our guides on the Hotel entities and the Great Outdoors ones as well.
The Doors Halloween Event Shop
You might think it's too risky to keep eating the candies after you knock on 50 doors and earn The Rune and Key in Doors that are needed for the Halloween Spotlight Event, but every time you eat one you get the Candy Corn currency which you can use to unlock item cosmetics from the Doors Trick or Treat event shop. If you want any of the skins on offer, make sure to eat as many of them as needed.
