How to Get the Rune & Key in The Mimic – Halloween Spotlight

Quick guide for how to get the Rune and the Key:

• How to get the Rune: Venture into the Haunted Asylum to find and burn the three cursed objects.
• How to get the Key: Survive the Clown's game of tag, then win the deadly hide-and-seek game against The Ringmaster.

You can get the Rune and Key for the Roblox Halloween Spotlight Event by surviving two new horrifying challenges in The Mimic. If you plan to venture inside the Haunted Asylum and the Nightmare Circus, follow our guide for all the tips and tricks you'll need to escape the monsters and get your prize.

How to Get the Rune in The Mimic

If you enter the event from the Halloween Spotlight hub, it will ask if you want to teleport to the event lobby. Just accept and you'll get transported where you need to be. From here you can select which level you want to go in. In order to get the Rune either create or join a lobby with the title Halloween Trials 2024. You can beat these challenges solo, but doing it in a group will make it a lot easier.

As soon as you spawn into the Haunted Asylum, head straight down the hallway in front of you until you reach a room with music coming from within. It's the first room you come across, with a table in the middle and a jack-o'-lantern and record player on it.

This is your safe space, the only place where the monster can't harm you because it can't stand the music. It's located in the center of the map, so it's also a good place to regroup. In order to beat this challenge and earn the Rune you need to unlock three safes and burn the objects within them.

Fortunately the safes and the keys that you need to open them always spawn in the same place. Unfortunately the asylum is being patrolled by a creature crawling on the floor due to its missing legs. As soon as it spots you it will rush you down and knock you out, spawning you back at the start of the map.

Luckily it won't kill you, but you'll drop all items that were on you, except your light source. If you hear it coming, turn off your light and hide behind something so it doesn't see you. If it lets out a shriek it means you were spotted, so try and run towards the music room where it can't touch you.

How to Find and Unlock the First Safe

You won't get lost as long as you follow our directions. Just make sure to hide if you hear the monster coming, so you don't have to redo any section.

• While facing the table in the music room, walk through the door behind it. Check if the monster is nearby and if not, exit into the hallway.
• Go down the hall until you reach the safe.
• Turn right and go inside the room to find a bed in the corner.
• Interact with it to check underneath and find the key needed to unlock the safe next door.
• Get back to the safe, unlock it and pick up the item inside.

Now quickly, but also carefully get back to the music room. Once inside, interact with the fire burning on the table to incinerate the object you got from the first safe. With that you're one third of the way done with this level.

How to Find and Unlock the Second Safe

After burning the first object, face the table again and then turn around and exit the music room to get to the second safe.

• Turn right and follow the hall around the corner.
• As soon as you can, take a left turn and continue down that hall until you reach a more spacious area.
• Hug the right wall and move toward the back corner of the room where you'll see a sink.
• Check under it and you'll find the second safe key.
• You might see a safe in this room, but ignore it. This key will not work for that one, just note it down for later.
• The monster will probably show up here, so turn off your light and hide behind cover so it doesn't see you.
• The first chance you get, run back to the music room. Inside it you'll see a flight of stairs.
• Climb up the stairs and follow the path toward the second safe.
• Unlock it and run back down so you can burn the second object.

How to Find and Unlock the Third Safe

Only one more safe left to go. This one involves the most walking around back and forth so be prepared. Face the table again and walk behind it into the hall.

• Once in the hallway, take a right turn and follow the hall around the corner.
• Turn left as soon as you're able and continue down the new hallway.
• Ignore any rooms you see to the sides and continue until you reach a short fence.
• Turn right and you will see a knocked down metal shelf. Check behind it and you'll see the key for the third safe.
• Now you need to walk all the way back to the area where you found the second key. Take a break in the music room if you need to reorient yourself
• Once you're back in the spacious area, instead of hugging the right side of the room, continue down the middle path.
• At the back of the room you'll find the third safe. Open it, grab the object and return to the music room so you can burn it.

Once the third object is burned, you'll get the Rune in The Mimic Halloween spotlight. Now onto the second challenge.

How to Get the Key in The Mimic

Back in the game lobby, it's time to start the second challenge for the Key. You can create or join an existing lobby for the Nightmare Circus level. I highly recommend you do this one with a group of people. It's entirely possible to do it solo, so go ahead if you want to test out your skill, but for a faster and easier clear, tag along with someone.

The Nightmare Circus consists of three areas, the circus outskirts, the circus tent and the boss arena. Each of them has their own difficult task you have to complete. During this whole level you only have three lives, so be careful.

The Circus Outskirts

After spawning in, make your way towards the circus tent you see in the distance. Once you get close enough a cutscene will play. A joyfully horrifying clown monster will greet you and invite you to a game of tag.

He'll start walking around the area trying to find where you are. If he does spot you, go hide bellow one of the carriages around the level, he can't reach you there. Scattered around the outskirts of the circus are seven big jack-in-the-box toys that you have to find and interact with in order to progress further.

Make sure to keep holding down your interact button until the jack pops out of the box, so you don't have to start over. Once you have found and popped all seven of them, you get to go to the next area.

The Circus Tent

The circus Ringmaster will greet you once you arrive and invite you to a game of hide-and-seek. You get to hide and he gets to seek you out and eat your soul if he does find you. Once the cutscene ends, run into one of the tunnels and the challenge begins.

You're obviously going to want to avoid The Ringmaster, because you will lose a life if he catches you. If you hear him coming, hide under a table and he won't be able to grab you. While avoiding him, you need to find giant playing cards stuck to the walls. They present a code that you need to assemble in order to get to the final stage. Above each card there is a number that shows which spot they take in the code sequence. If you're playing with other people, make sure to type in chat which cards you've found.

When you find all six pieces of the code go toward the yellow exclamation mark which will lead you to where you can input the code. You'll find a room with six playing cards floating in the air with a submit button bellow them. There is no penalty for getting the code wrong, so even if you found only five of the six cards, you can try to guess the last one.

Whether you found all the cards or managed to guess some of them, once you input the correct code the final stage of this challenge begins.

The Ringmaster Boss Fight

You get teleported to a big boss arena with a giant version of The Ringmaster looming over you. As soon as you can, grab a knife as your weapon and strap in because this fight is going to take a while.

The green bar represents his HP and the blue bar his stamina. Every time he uses one of his attacks, he depletes a chunk of his stamina bar. When it becomes empty you'll have a brief window of time to attack him before he recovers and strikes back again. You don't do a lot of damage to him, so be prepared to dodge his numerous attacks.

Every time he launches an attack, part of the boss arena will glow red. That's your cue to get out of there as fast as you can. The attacks he can use are:

• Arm attacks - He has numerous attacks where he slams his arms across the arena, leaving only a small part of it safe. Make sure to be quick about dodging it.
• Missile strikes - Red circles will continue to appear around the arena on top of which explosive missiles will drop quickly after the circles show up. Keep moving and keep and be careful where you stand.
• Top hat attack - He'll throw his top hat down on the ground and it will start spinning around the arena. This might be his most dangerous attack, because if it catches up to you it can deal a lot of damage very fast, potentially killing you.
• Laser eyes - He shoots laser beams out of his eyes and drags them along the arena trying to catch you with them. They don't move fast, but can be very unpredictable, so stay on your toes.

Once you manage to land the final blow and defeat him, you'll unlock the Rune from The Mimic Halloween Spotlight event. Congratulations!
