It's no secret that having rare pets in the point-and-click farming experience Pet Simulator X is alluring, and that some players would do just about anything to get their hands on them. But once you do have your hands on their adorable cube faces, how do you know what they're worth? Scamming and fake trading can be a massive problem in collecting experiences like this one, so how do we stay safe? Continue reading the guide below to learn all there is to know about values in Pet Simulator X.
What is a value list?
Similar to Nookazon, the popular buying-and-selling website used by Animal Crossing fans, or Islands Price Guide used by Islands fans, Pet Simulator X players have Cosmic Values, a website created by popular Robloxians Expellez and Rixin that's updated and run by official Pet Simulator X traders, and PetSimXValues, a website that's updated and run by users. These websites allow players to track, update, and adjust their own personal prices for any pet they may have, and then directly connect with those looking to buy or sell them.
How does a value list work?
Each time a player uploads a pet to the PetSimXValues website, they get to choose whatever selling price they see fit for said pet. Those on the buying side can then search for that pet by name, select it from a list of results, and see all the relevant users who are selling. This way, players can see which users have consistently fair prices, and which ones are seemingly only selling to make an overpriced and quick buck.
For example, a Normal 404 Demon pet, which has been sold by a multitude of people, is typically listed for anywhere between one million and 150 million Diamonds. Throughout December 2022 and January 2023, this price remained consistent—only fluctuating lower and higher by small margins. On December 31, 2022, however, one user decided to list the pet for 450 million Diamonds—300 million Diamonds higher than the high end of the previous listings.

Though the sale was successful, and the user who raised their price so drastically may not have done it intentionally, they completely altered how future sellers will list that specific pet, and how buyers will look at that user. The best way to use any sort of value list or resale website is to find a seller you like, trust, and determine to be consistent, then regularly check back with their listings.
Should I use a value list?
The answer to this question is really up to you, but in our opinion—no, you shouldn't rely on, or solely use, someone else's value list/price guide to decide what to buy or sell. These guides are consistently filled with inflation, or have items way undervalued to the point that they become irrelevant. Because value lists are constantly changing (sometimes every second), it becomes impossible to truly track which listings are correct and which ones aren't.
Instead, it's best to pay attention to those selling around you and consider what you would feel comfortable paying for the item you're selling or trying to buy. Because Pet Simulator X doesn't have a set economy, the price that people are willing to pay for pets is always changing. You can use a price guide as just that, a guide, but it's probably best to make your own price judgements when it comes to listing your pets or buying from others to ensure that you're not scamming people or getting scammed.
What should I do if I don't use a value list?
As mentioned above, value lists should be looked at as a base guideline rather than a set of rules to follow; it's best to set your own costs based on what you feel comfortable with. Players will often overpay because of convenience, or if the pet is hard or even impossible to obtain. In these instances, everyone's prices will be different—some will drastically overcharge, while others will aim to make a profit while remaining more reasonable in their listings. The best way to stay in the know about Pet Simulator X values is to consider your own justifications for buying and selling, while also scanning through a price guide/value list but taking it with a grain of salt.
I want to use a value list, which one should I follow?
There are two value lists that are most heavily used and updated in the Pet Simulator X community, and they're both mentioned at the start of this guide—Cosmic Values and PetSimXValues. These websites allow players and official resellers in the Pet Simulator X community to have a place where they can list whatever pets they want, and interact with other community members who are interested in purchasing them.
