Character Creation in Paradox Roblox

During the character creation in Paradox, you'll have to make three choices: name, gender, and faction (Quincy/Hollow/Shinigami). All three choices are irreversible, and the only way to make any alterations to that character slot later on is to wipe it (delete all data) using Wipe Essence.

The name and gender choices are purely cosmetic. On the other hand, your race/faction determines your progression path, powers, and many other things. All three factions are fairly equal in the end-game performance-wise, so it's best you pick whichever one's theme and progression you like the most.

Basic Paradox Controls

NOTE: We listed only the most basic controls to help you get around in the beginning. For more in-depth controls, including controller keybinds and more, see the controls guide.

How to Travel Between Worlds (Karakura Town, Soul Society, etc.)

Each race has its own teleportation ability that they can use to go between their home world and Karakura Town. Quincy have Shadow, and Shinigami have Gate, both of which are unlocked by default; Hollow need to become Vastocar first to get their teleportation ability (Garganta).

Equip the teleportation ability from your backpack (~) if it's not on your hotbar already, unsheathe your weapon (E), and then use the ability with the appropriate keybind to teleport (if you're a Soul Reaper, you'll need to interact with the portal, too).

Important NPC Locations

To see all NPC locations while in the game, press , (comma) on your keyboard. You can toggle off the NPC UI overlay by pressing , again. All of the NPCs have their purpose, though the most important ones you'll need to interact with are:

  • Bank: Allows you to store and retrieve items between slots.
  • Kisuke: Fight him to break through your Potential (more info below).
  • Lunarz: Teleports you and your party to a Boss Raid server.
  • Inori: Turns Whispering Willows into talents and can transform your 15 Shattered Hogyoku into a complete Hogyoku.
  • Market: Allows you to buy certain rare items such as rerolls or Wipe Essence for Yen.

General Progression - Kisuke NPC Potential Breakthroughs

The main progression mechanic in Paradox is Potential, which works just like levels in other games, and it increases whenever you complete a mission or finish a boss raid/portal. Every 125 Potential, you'll reach a soft cap, and you'll need to talk to the Kisuke NPC located in Karakura Town and fight him to break through. The maximum Potential you can have is 705. Here are all Potential breakpoints:

  • 1st Breakpoint: 125 Potential
  • 2nd Breakpoint: 250 Potential
  • 3rd Breakpoint: 375 Potential
  • 4th Breakpoint: 500 Potential
  • 5th Breakpoint: 625 Potential

Quick Paradox Soul Reaper Progression Guide

Below, you can find a short step-by-step summary of the whole Soul Reaper (Shinigami) progression in Paradox, from 0 Potential to 705 Potential and Bankai obtained. Check out our complete Soul Reaper progression guide for more info on each of the steps.

  1. Soul Reaper Progression (0 - 75 Potential): Do missions until you reach 75 Potential.
    • Potential: You can check your Potential by talking to the Julian NPC or from the character slot selection menu.
    • IMPORTANT: You can only gain Potential by completing missions, boss raids, and boss portals!
  2. Shinigami Exam: Visit the Professor at the Soul Society to complete the Soul Reaper exam and breakthrough.
  3. Soul Reaper Progression (75 - 200 Potential): Keep doing missions. Fight Kisuke NPC in Karakura Town to breakthrough at 125 Potential. Check the Kisuke progression part above for more info.
  4. Shikai Obtainment: After you reach 200 Potential, meditate by clicking N (check our controls guide for controller keybinds).
    • 1st Shikai Quest: Click numbers in the order they appear on the screen (1-2-3-4).
    • 2nd Shikai Quest: Click numbers as the falling circles go over them (like in Guitar Hero).
    • 3rd Shikai Quest: Defeat your Shikai Spirit to unlock your Shikai.
  5. Soul Reaper Progression (200 - 705 Potential): Keep grinding missions. Fight Kisuke NPC at 250, 375, 500, and 625 Potential to breakthrough.
    • (OPTIONAL) Unlock Vizard at 500 Potential:
      • 1. Reach 500 Potential and talk to Jamaster NPC in the Soul Society.
      • 2. Complete an Eternal Flame Trial to get a Mask Remnant and deliver it to Jamaster.
      • 3. Talk to Jamaster NPC again. He'll tell you to get 50 Shinigami Kills and 20 Ranked Wins.
      • 4. Talk to Jamaster NPC once more and complete the Vizard Trials (details are in our Soul Reaper progression guide).
      • (OPTIONAL) Collect 5 Shattered Hogyokus and deliver them to Ender NPC in Karakura Town to get Vizard Grab (exclusive skill).
  6. Bankai Obtainment: Do this after reaching 705 Potential.
    • 1st Bankai Quest: Get gripped 5 times by players (not NPCs) that are either Quincy or Hollow.
    • 2nd Bankai Quest: Talk to Kisuke NPC at Karakura Town and challenge him to a battle.
    • 3rd Bankai Quest: Go to Soul Society and talk to the Bankai Spirit NPC to start the Bankai Trials (solutions for each trial are in the guide below).

Quick Paradox Hollow Progression Guide

The start of the Hollow progression in Paradox is by far the most tedious of all races. However, when you compare how much time some other races have to waste on some other things, it all evens out. Below, you'll find a short summary of the whole Hollow progression to help you out with what to focus on and what to do.

  1. Pre-Arrancar Progression: Before you become an Arrancar, you'll have to go through a few stages as a masked Hollow. This process is quite long and unskippable. To gain Hollow Points, just kill other Hollows and Souls that spawn around the map.
    • IMPORTANT: Do not click Ctrl + K before you become a Vasto Lorde. You'll not become the strongest form of Arrancar.
    • Fishbone (0 - 75 Hollow Points): Has only a basic attack and a critical. It takes around 20 Hollow kills to get to the next stage.
    • Menos Grande: To evolve from a Menos Grande to an Adjuchas you'll need to wait 1 hour. You can speed this up by killing Hollows (-15s per kill).
    • Adjuchas (Menos Grande - 850 Hollow Points): Keep killing Hollows and Souls. It takes around 250 Hollow kills to become a Vasto Lorde.
      • Pro Tip: Be in a party and farm with other people at multiple locations to share the kills and Hollow Points gained.
    • Vasto Lorde: Once maxed out, rip your mask off by clicking Ctrl + K and continue your progression as an Arrancar.
      • Optional: Don't rip your mask off and continue as a true Hollow. But there is really no reason to do this, honestly.
  2. Arrancar Progression (0 - 200 Potential): Click , to see NPC locations and go to the Missions portal. Keep doing missions until you reach 200 Potential. You'll have to fight Kisuke at 125 Potential to breakthrough. Check the Kisuke progression part above for more info.
    • Potential: You can check your Potential by talking to the Julian NPC or from the character slot selection menu.
    • IMPORTANT: You can only gain Potential by completing missions, boss raids, and boss portals!
  3. Incomplete Resurrection Obtainment: Once at 200 Potential, talk to the DevAidxen NPC in Hueco Mundo to start the Incomplete Resurrection obtainment.
    • Step 1: Your spirit will spawn as a Fishbone somewhere on the map. You need to track it down and kill it before other players/NPCs do. You'll get notifications if you get closer or farther away from it.
    • Step 2: You'll need to grip 5 Shinigami players. Other races don't count.
    • Step 3: Click N to start meditating inside Hueco Mundo. After 5 minutes, you'll be teleported to a room with 5 levers and a door. You must find the correct pattern of lever pulls to open the door. Just keep trying out combinations until you find the right pattern.
    • Step 4: After you nail the lever pattern, the door will open, and you can enter it to obtain your Partial Res.
  4. Arrancar Progression (0 - 500 Potential): Continue doing Missions until you reach 500 Potential.
  5. Resurrection Obtainment: After you reach 500 Potential, you can start the Full Res obtainment.
    • Step 1: Collect 15 Shattered Hogyoku and merge them by talking to the Inori NPC.
    • Step 2: Talk to the Mysterious Person NPC. He will tell you that you'll now need to get 10 Raid wins OR 15 Ranked wins.
    • Step 3: Talk to the Mysterious Person NPC again after fulfilling one of the requirements. You will then have to do a parry test to progress.
    • Step 4: Now, you have to grip Shinigami/Quincy and charge the Hogyoku. If you die, you will lose charge. You can talk to the Mysterious Person NPC at any time to check the current charge.
    • Step 5: Talk to the Mysterious Person NPC once again and then meditate inside Hueco Mundo. You'll be transported to an arena where you'll need to defeat your inner Hollow to obtain full Resurrection.

Quick Paradox Quincy Progression Guide

The Quincy race progression is the fastest and easiest of all in Paradox. That's because you have an OP ranged weapon from the start (the Quincy Bow; press V to equip it while holding your sword), and all the missions are fairly straightforward. Here is a short summary of the whole Quincy progression:

  1. Quincy Progression (0 - 215 Potential): Click , to see NPC locations and go to the Missions portal. Keep doing missions until you reach 215 Potential.
  2. Schrift Obtainment: Talk to the Digiki NPC located at the Wandenreich to start the questline.
    • Stage 1 (The Piece of Despair): Talk to Giselle next to Digiki and defeat her in a sparring match.
    • Stage 2 (The Piece of Order): Hunt down other Quincy players to find the elusive piece. There is a 20% chance it drops from any player Quincy.
    • Stage 3 (The Piece of Domination): Talk to Digiki again to start the Schrift boss fight. Defeat the boss, talk to Digiki once more, and choose to receive the letter to unlock your Schrift.
  3. Quincy Progression (215 - 705 Potential): Keep doing missions until you max out your Potential at 705.
  4. Vollstandig Obtainment: Talk to the Yhwach NPC at the Wandenreich to start the questline. He spawns every 2 server hours and stays on the server until it shuts down (switch servers until you find him).
    • The Quest: Complete the following objectives. They can be done at the same time and the order in which you do them doesn't matter.
      • Complete all 4 Boss Raids from the Lunarz NPC.
      • Grip/kill 20 Soul Reaper players (stalking mission grips count as well).
      • Grip/kill 20 Arrancar players (stalking mission grips count as well).
    • Volstandig Trial: Talk to Yhwach to turn in the quest and start the trial. It's just a simple maze. If you stray too far from the correct path, you'll be teleported back to the beginning. Once you've completed it, talk to Yhwach again to unlock your Volstandig.
      • Pro Tip: Zoom out and approach the edge of the maze. Look around and try to find a blue line on the outside walls of the maze. That's where the exit door is and where you need to go.

Important Game Modes Explained

There are various game modes in Paradox that you'll need to participate in to progress and become stronger. Here is the outline of all important game modes, what items they drop, and what they're required for:

  • Missions: Join them by interacting with the Mission portal. Primary way of gaining Potential in Paradox. The missions are mostly PvE and quite easy. The most important drop from missions are skill items, which you'll need to unlock new skills. They also drop a lot of low-rarity accessories.
  • Eternal Flame: Join it by interacting with the Eternal Flame portal. A waved mode where you need to kill all enemies to progress to the next wave. You gain rewards every 5/10 waves, and they are usually progression materials, rerolls, and accessories.
  • Ranked: Join from the main menu. Participate in 1v1 duels against other players to earn valuable rewards, including exclusive accessories. If you are good at the game, this is the fastest mode to farm resources in.
  • Boss Portals: Join via the portals at Karakura Town. They spawn every 30 minutes (server time) and last for 10 minutes. Up to 5 players can join them. The goal is to defeat the OP boss, and the rewards include 10 Potential (fixed amount), exclusive accessories, progression resources, rerolls, and other items. Boss Portals are also the best way to get Holy Grails.
  • Boss Raids: Join them by talking to the Lunarz NPC. The goal is to defeat the boss with your party. You can vote on which boss to fight before each run. Boss Raids rewards various items, and each boss has a unique accessory that drops only from it.

How Skill/Stat Trees Work in Paradox

There are 4 Skill Trees (Stats) your character can upgrade in Paradox. To upgrade them, you'll need to spend Stat Points, which you get by increasing your Potential and breaking through Potential caps. The maximum number of SP you can have right now is 42 (45 if you use a Holy Grail). Here is what each Stat does and what its Skill Tree focuses on:

  • Speed: Lowers your Flashstep cooldown (3.7s - 3.3s with 42 points). Skills are mostly dashes and teleports, and they deal solid damage.
  • Sword: Increases the Posture damage you deal (~2x Posture DMG with 42 points). Has a mix of melee, mobility, and ranged AoE skills. It's the most balanced skill tree of all.
  • Hakuda: Increases your M1 damage (1.5x M1 DMG with 42 points). Most Hakuda skills are melee guard breaker/combo moves that any melee build will benefit from.
  • Kido: Has unique skills for each race. Kido skills are usually better than those in other skill trees, but you don't get the extra stat scaling, unfortunately. Check the skill showcases on the Paradox Trello.

How to Get Skills

You get skills in Paradox by using Skill Crystals, Skill Gems, and Skill Cores, which are all drops from missions (Core > Gem > Crystal). The higher your stats and the better the skill item you use, the more skill choices you'll have available. However, if you don't meet the stat point requirements for some skills or have already unlocked all skills in a tree, some skills won't appear as cards when you use a skill item.

How Talents Work in Paradox

Talents are passive boosts that you can get by turning in Whispering Willows to the Inori NPC. Each time you do this, you'll get to choose between 3 talent cards, and they can be either Common, Rare, or Legendary (the rarer, the better). To equip your talents, click M to open the main menu and then on Talents on the left. Drag the talents into the 3 slots on the right to equip them.

How to Get Whispering Willows

You can get Whispering Willows by increasing your Potential, doing Boss Portals, and completing Eternal Flame runs. You'll get ~12 Whispering Willows just from Potential increasing, which is enough to get at least a few OP talents.

How to Get Clans, Items, and Accessories in Paradox

You can get rerolls, accessories, and other type of item in Paradox by using codes, playing different types of game modes (Boss Raids, Eternal Flame runs, etc.), in-game stores (Market, Robux Shop, etc.), and by talking to NPCs (Inori creates Hogyoku from 15 Shattered Hogyoku, etc.).

On the other hand, clan items are only obtainable from Clan Summons. Each summon will cost you 1 Clan Reroll, and the clans you get from summoning will be stored in your inventory. Use a clan in your inventory to obtain it. To see the odds of rolling each clan, as well as what stats and boosts they give, see our ultimate clan guide.

Roblox Paradox FAQ

Which Race/Faction Is the Best in Paradox?

There is really no best race/faction in Paradox. Quincy, Soul Reapers, and Hollow all have their benefits, and it ultimately boils down to what kind of power you'd want to use. Consult the Paradox Trello for all the power showcases.

How to Level Up/Increase Your Potential in Paradox?

The only way to increase your Potential and level up in Paradox is to do missions. You won't get any potential for doing Boss Raids, Eternal Flame runs, or any other type of content.

How to Get More Character Slots?

You can get more character slots by buying them for 100 Robux each. If you don't want to spend Robux, you can use a Wipe Essence to reset your character and start anew with a different race and everything.

And that covers literally all you'll need to know as a beginner in the Paradox Roblox experience. Follow the tips we gave you, and you'll be maxing out your character and dominating Ranked in no time! To find all the guides we created for this game, visit the Paradox hub here on Pro Game Guides.
