Just two years after the debut of the famed Pet Simulator X experience, development company BIG Games seems to have another experience hidden up its sleeve, and it could be coming soon. This new experience, Happy Pet Game (as it's been labeled for now), was created all the way back in February of 2022, and has seemingly sat dormant ever since. That is until fans began to notice a string of suspicious activities that have led them to believe the experience is preparing for a secret release, one of which was an unknown update that occurred on August 8, 2023, and another a cryptic tweet from BIG Games founder and PSX creator, Preston. For a closer look at the details surrounding this mystery, continue reading below.
What is Happy Pet Game on Roblox?
At the time of this article's publication, no one really knows the answer to this question. Only those currently working on the experience, or in the realm of the BIG Games company, know what Happy Pet Game is. Based on alleged leaks that have been shared by RBXGLeaks, it appears that Happy Pet Game will be at least slightly similar to the Pet Simulator trilogy that made BIG Games into what it is today, which wouldn't be surprising given that fact. These "leaks" showcase various icons that are clearly heavily inspired by PSX, and pet designs that resemble its predecessor as well.
As there's no way to gauge their validly, these leaks are still unofficial; until the experience opens to the public, or BIG Games releases a statement regarding it, any true details surrounding Happy Pet Game are unknown.
When will Happy Pet Game release?
Because information about this experience is so limited, no one in the general public knows the official release date for Happy Pet Game, not even me. There have been a few tweets made by Preston, however, that have led fans, and even some creators, to believe that the experience will release on August 9, 2023, September 1, 2023, or September 9, 2023.
On June 25, 2023, Preston tweeted the number nine, without any other context or explanation, except for a followup tweet that declared nine his favorite number. Fans immediately found this tweet suspicious, and filled the replies with questions as to what the tweet meant or was referring to. Then, on July 6, 2023, Preston tweeted a gif that included the number nine, confusing fans yet again. Many expected a new plushie release, or a new announcement regarding a new PSX event, to take place on July 9, 2023, but the date came and went in silence.
The Pet Simulator X Yeet a Pet update arrived like normal, debuting on July 22, 2023, alongside an official blog post/update log from BIG Games, but stayed a day longer than the normal update schedule allots for, and also wasn't replaced by a new bi-weekly update on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023. No comment was made by Preston, or anyone at BIG Games, regarding the strange activity and assumed mixup, and the Pet Simulator X experience has since been returned to its normal state.
Is Pet Simulator X dying?
While I cannot speak on what the guaranteed lifetime of Pet Simulator X will be, I can say that, personally, no, I don't think Pet Simulator X is "dying" anytime soon. Over the last two years, PSX has built itself into a powerhouse, and a Roblox staple, that even people unfamiliar with the Roblox platform can recognize. Whether that's for positive or negative reasons is another story, but it's recognized nonetheless. If BIG Games were to stop updating Pet Simulator X out of nowhere, leaving it to die as an experience of the past, everything that's been created, the hype around new events, worlds, and pets for fans, and even the absolute merchandise monopoly for the company itself, will just be thrown away. In my opinion, it just wouldn't make sense, and, given Preston's clear want to make as much money off of his players as possible, doesn't seem like a good business decision.
With all that being said, however, the plan to "kill" PSX and release Happy Pet Game in its place is still a possibility, and we won't know its fate for sure until BIG Games or Preston speaks about it. While I would be definitely be surprised to hear that PSX is getting the boot, it wouldn't totally shock me. The cycle of what's popular/successful on Roblox is constantly changing, and if Preston views Pet Simulator X as old news, and something that isn't profitable anymore, it seems as though he'll be ready to move on.
