Most times, you're almost certainly trying to sink other ships in Sea of Thieves. But sometimes, you may want to sink your own ship. Whether you are stuck on rocks, overrun by enemies, or want to get back to an Outpost, you can resort to sinking your own ship. The fastest way to do this is for your crew to vote to scuttle the ship.
How to vote to scuttle the ship in Sea of Thieves
To vote to scuttle the ship, you and your crew must open the Options Menu (View Button on Xbox, Esc on PC), and select My Crew. Then, scroll down to the bottom option that says Scuttle Ship and select Yes. The scuttle vote works the same way as putting someone in the brig, so the majority vote wins.
Once you vote to scuttle the ship, it will start to sink along with any items or treasure on it. You will lose all your objects on the ship if you choose to scuttle it, so make sure you do not have anything valuable on it.

After the ship sinks, a mermaid will be nearby in the water to take you to an island or outpost. Your ship will also return there with any changes you may have made before setting sail. Scuttling your ship can get you out of being stuck, or you can avoid enemies who will not leave you alone.
Other ways to sink your own ship in Sea of Thieves
If your crew does not agree to sink the ship, you can take matters into your own hands. However, the process may be a little difficult, and you may wind up in the brig if your crew doesn't like you sinking the ship. You will have to be near land or another ship to use a cannon to damage your own ship, otherwise, you can try to flood the ship by bucketing water into the ship or burn it down with Firebombs.
