However, one thing that keeps The Sims popular is the ability to mod the game. Tray Importer is one of those tools that helps modders remove, import, or modify Custom Content (CC). 

How to download and use The Sims 4 Tray Importer

  • Download the Sims 4 Tray Importer by clicking the orange button
  • Extract the .zip file you just downloaded using WinRAR or 7Zip
  • Open the .exe file to install it
  • Launch the Sims 4 Tray Importer
  • The section on the left shows you all your Sims and Households

If you find that you can't see them, check if the program automatically detected your Sims 4 folder. If not, it'll prompt you to manually find the directory.

How to view your Custom Content with Sims 4 Tray Importer

If you've got a broken CC texture or if you'd just like to view a mod you've got, you can click on the Sim or Household, then click on the CC tab. This will show you all the mods you have.

In case you're looking for a broken texture or a mod that works partially, it'll show up listed in red color. You can then right-click it to find its location to either delete or replace it. You also have the possibility to look it up on Google by right-clicking on it, so you can download it right from the Sims 4 Tray Importer.

How to add Tray Files with importing & exporting in The Sims 4

The Sims 4 Tray Importer also gives you the ability to import new mods, textures, or other types of custom content while also letting you export your own at the same time.

Once you click the Files tab on the top left of the Sims 4 Tray Importer, you can choose to import or export your Sims and Households, with or without Custom Content. This lets you share your content with anyone you'd like, while also getting to play content that others have shared with you.

The Sims 4 Tray Importer is a useful tool that makes browsing Tray content way more convenient. The functions it performs can be done manually by going into each folder to add, remove, or modify the files. Using this program will save you a lot of time and confusion.
