Where to build your base in Smalland Survive the Wilds

A Great Tree is the best place to set up your base in Smalland: Survive the Wilds. These massive trees offer numerous benefits, but most importantly, your home will be protected at night. While you can set up a base anywhere, nocturnal insects will attack your buildings at night. The Grand Tree prevents this from happening, making your base as safe as possible.

You must first claim a Great Tree by reaching the top and interacting with the gnome statue. This will give you the option to claim the tree. Once you do so, you can then interact with any gnome statue at any Great Tree to claim a different one. You also have the option to move your base and instantly teleport it to different Great Trees. A new marker will be added to the map to show where your Great Tree is as well.

Aside from protection, Great Trees also provide a butler and airlift. This lets you quickly get up and done from the top of the tree. You can locate points of interest from up top, then quickly descend in your airlift. We also discovered that if you are being chased by a hostile insect, using the airlift will unaggro it and save you from attack.

How to find Great Trees in Smalland Survive the Wilds

There are multiple Great Trees in Smalland: Survive the Wilds, and we have found two. They appear to be marked on the map as blotches of a light brown color, which we have circled below, but this isn't always reliable. While exploring, look for massive trees with mushrooms going all the way up. This is typically a good sign that it is a Great Tree. You can also look for the airlift balloon and platform.
