How to find side quests in Star Ocean Divine Force

You can find side quests throughout the world of Star Ocean: The Divine Force. These are initiated by speaking to NPCs. You can identify an NPC with a side quest by the ! that appears over their heads. There will also be a yellow icon on the minimap if an NPC has an available quest. Once you talk to them, they will give you some background info and the side quest.

There are next to no quest markers or tracking for quests, so you must rely on the information the NPC gives you. Instead, you must search through the NPC's dialogue for hints and clues on where to go and how to complete the side quest. Some NPCs will give you more information, but often you will have to figure some out for yourself.

An example would be the Cat-loving Girl in Larcette Village. She tells you that her cat, Chacham, is missing and requests that you find it. In her dialogue, she tells you that the cat likes climbing to high places. Searching the roofs is a good idea with many tall buildings, and doing so will locate the missing cat, Chacham.
