How to fix stuttering and lag in Star Wars Jedi Survivor

While playing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, particularly when in busy battles with Cal Kestis, you may experience stuttering or lag, which can be jarring, to say the least. There are a handful of methods you can try to fix this issue on both PC and console.

I personally ran into stuttering on PC at High settings with my Nvidia 3070 Ti graphics card and i9-12900K processor, though turning raytracing and V-Sync off helped bring it to stable 50 to 60fps during gameplay.

Star Wars Jedi Survivor stuttering fix on PS5

  • Turn off Performance Mode—Performance Mode opts for 60fps at 1440p on PlayStation 5, though this can come with stuttering and graphical performance dips. Instead, toggle it to Quality Mode in the Visuals menu, which locks frames per second to 30
  • Enable Motion Blur—While this option won't necessarily improve performance, it does help hide the jaggies and screen tearing that sometimes occurs, so I'd recommend turning it on
  • Restart your PS5—If you make the above changes and you're still getting a lot of stutters, try restarting your PlayStation 5 because it could be a memory leak

Star Wars Jedi Survivor stuttering fix on Xbox Series X|S

  • Enable Quality Mode—If you're encountering dips while using Performance Mode, which runs the game at 60fps at 1440p on Xbox Series X|S, try swapping over to Quality Mode in the Visuals menu. This locks it to 30fps, but you'll find it stutters less
  • Turn on Motion Blur—Enabling Motion Blur isn't a performance fix, but it does help to mask screen tearing and jaggies. Like PS5, I'd recommend you turn it on
  • Restart your Xbox Series X|S—If none of the above makes a difference, restart your console in case there's a memory leak

Star Wars Jedi Survivor stuttering fix on PC

  • Lower your graphics settings—For example, if you have your Star Wars Jedi: Survivor graphics preset set to Epic, lower it to High, lower High to Medium, etc.
  • Turn on Quality Mode—If you're playing on Performance Mode, try changing it to Quality Mode instead under the AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2 section of the Visuals menu
  • Enable Motion Blur—Like on console, turning on Motion Blur won't necessarily improve performance, but it will help to hide screen tear and jaggies
  • Disable V-Sync—V-Sync was an option that was causing a lot of headaches for me, so try disabling it and see if your game runs better. It did for me
  • Turn off raytracing—Same as the above with raytracing; Disable it and see if that makes a difference
  • Restart Star Wars Jedi: Survivor—An obvious one, but simply restarting your game could resolve any stutters
  • Verify Game Files—If you've restarted Jedi: Survivor and you're still encountering lag, exit the game and verify the game files. This scans your installation to check if anything's broken and replaces it
    • To do this on Steam, right-click on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in your Library, click on Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files
    • To do this in the EA App, click My Collection, then on the three dots in the top-right corner of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, then select Repair
  • Update your GPU drivers—Sometimes, out-of-date graphics card drivers can cause problems. Open either AMD Radeon or Nvidia GeForce Experience, depending on what type of GPU you have, and click on Check For Updates
  • Disable any overlays—If you have certain overlays such as Steam or Discord, disable them as they can affect performance and cause stutter and lag
