How to do the Starfield Puddle Glitch for Infinite Money

How deep is this puddle?

Earning Credits in Starfield is easy, but I have expensive tastes, meaning I needed to get my hands on a lot. Since I'm playing a good character, I wanted to avoid contraband and illegal activities, but that doesn't mean I won't bend the rules of the game if necessary. I'm talking about the Akila City Puddle Glitch, which can net you infinite Credits in Starfield!

Where to find the Puddle Trick in Akila City in Starfield

  • As of the update on September 25, 2023, it appears the Puddle Glitch has been patched out.
  • Cheyenne (System)
    • Akila City (Planet)
    • Outside Shepherd's Goods

The Puddle Trick is found in Akila City, right outside of Shepherd's General Goods. Crouch down and walk around the muddy puddles in front of the shop. I've marked the exact puddle I used to access the shopkeeper's inventory below. It may take a bit of time to find the right puddle.

How to get Infinite Credits using the Puddle Trick in Starfield

Once you find the puddle, interact with it to access the inventory for Shepherd's Goods. You can then take everything he owns, and it will not count as stealing. Once you've loaded up on goods, sell the items back to him. You may need to visit several vendors to completely offload your bounty.

The key to exploiting this glitch is to wait 24 hours and repeat the process. You can do this trick as many times as you want until you effectively have infinite credits. If you are feeling strapped for cash, then this is a safe and efficient way to replenish your wallet. I used this to purchase some valuable upgrades for my ship.

How does the Puddle Trick work in Starfield?

Bethesda RPGs use an interesting system where shopkeeper's inventories are placed in a secret chest, which is then hidden in the world. The chest containing this particular vendor's inventory just happens to be found in the puddle outside his store. Other players have reported a rock outside of Rowland's Arms that lets you access this shop and other secret chests. There is also an easy way to steal Credits without getting caught too.
